James W. says, "Our recently-purchased house was built in 1990, and the back patio needed work. Wooden stairs leading up to the pool area were sagging, and the handrail was shaky; many patio flagstones were coming loose; and the built-in BBQ was old - and I own a far better Weber grill, but had nowhere to put it. Dani, one of the owners, came out to take a look. He listened carefully to what we wanted, made some suggestions, and sent a quote within a couple of days. We accepted, and work began a few weeks later. We had to be out of town for a while, and they were flexible about the start date. Andrew was our main contact person, and oversaw the work. They removed the old stairs, and replaced them with new flagstone-faced concrete stairs that beautifully match an existing set of steps that also lead up to the pool area. Those other steps have a metal handrail, and Jose - a real craftsman - hand-made two perfectly-matching curved handrails for the new stairs. They also built a cinder-block retaining wall next to the new stairs, and faced it with flagstones. See photo. Andrew also suggested installing - at a very fair price - a short flagstone path to connect the top of the new stairs with the pool area. We did that, and it looks great. They removed the built-in BBQ, moved the natural gas line to a new location, and re-faced the wall with flagstones, giving me a place to put my Weber grill. And they removed and re-installed the loose flagstones. Andrew came by frequently to check on progress, and he invariably responded very quickly to texts. Bottom line is that we're delighted with the result, and we recommend Everlasting Remodel very highly indeed!"See more

How much should a pool inspection cost?

pool inspection will cost around $175, on average, with a low range of $85 and a high end of $499. This price can include a range of different systems checks. First, the pool inspector will perform a visual assessment for signs of debris, cracks, sharp edges and other damage that could lead to injury or deterioration of your pool. They will also check all chemicals, pumps, filters, circulation systems, heaters and other elements that make up the infrastructure of your pool.

How do I schedule a pool inspection?

To schedule a pool inspection, begin by searching for local pool inspectors on Thumbtack. When you find a pool inspector you’re interested in hiring, check their availability and choose a date and time. You can also ask the pool inspector to suggest other dates. Fill out the short survey about your pool inspection, and the inspector will get back to you to confirm the day and time of your inspection.

What are the advantages of hiring a professional pool inspector?

Hiring a professional swimming pool inspector comes with a number of different benefits. It helps homebuyers and owners understand what condition the pool is in, which will help with purchasing decisions, negotiations or simply budgeting for repairs. A pool inspector can also give an accurate assessment of the pool’s mechanical and electrical processes. Perhaps most important is the ability to detect problems in their infancy, so they don’t become expensive repairs down the road.

How do I hire a pool inspector?

To hire a pool inspector, start by searching for professional inspectors near you by entering your zip code on Thumbtack. Once you see a list of potential candidates in your area, narrow down the list by reading their customer ratings and reviews.

Before you hire anyone, check for licensing requirements in your state and make sure the inspector has the proper credentials. The final step is to contact several pool inspectors to receive price quotes and compare them. This will help you decide who to work with.

What do they check during a swimming pool inspection?

A pool inspector can help you address any pool repairs you may need, and they can help you understand your pool's overall condition. Often, they will start by checking for general safety factors, such as the fencing or decking around the pool. They’ll also look at the pool's surface and interior to inspect it for cracks or chipping. Other important checks happen on the pumps, filters, heaters, and other accessories in and around the pool to make sure they’re working properly.
