I called Bob Jenson on the 24-hour number, and they gave me an appointment the next day (try doing that with any AC company on one of the hottest days of the summer if you dont have a Maintenance Program or equivalent). Brian came out, and diagnosed the problem as a bad start capacitor. He said someone would bring a capacitor from their warehouse, and he would wait for it to arrive and then install it. It turned out they didnt have the right capacitor in stock. Brian then went on his own to a supply house, bought the capacitor, returned to our house, and installed it and all is cool. My guess is that most technicians working for most companies would have said they would be back another day with the right capacitor, and would have left us to swelter.
