About
WSI Certified Swim Instructor available to come to your home, and teach private or semiprivate lessons. I make learning to swim fun! For young children, the lesson is a game, with silly songs, rhymes, and a rhythm each week that gets them comfortable quickly! I learned how to teach at the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center in Pasadena, and bring my experience with me. For older children or adults, I tailor the pace of the lesson, breaking swimming into small steps that help you become confident as you master each piece. I love seeing people progress. The moment when a child first that the water can support them and they can move in it is an exciting one. Early lessons build up to that point, subsequent allow someone to swim farther, longer, and with more skill. pricing: 30 min private lesson: $40 45 min private lesson: $50 60 min private lesson: $60 Time can be split between multiple students Group lessons: extra $10 per student

Shelby taught my 5 yr old and she was really great with him. She really kept him engaged and excited about swimming. It was really worth doing private lessons with her. I plan to do this with my younger son in a couple years.

We started swim lessons with our son at six months old, and have continued working with Shelby for the past few months. We're learning basic water comfort and safety skills, and we're very happy so far.

Shelby has been professional from the very start. My 2 1/2 year old took to her right away which was a blessing after a disasterous first swim lesson with another instructor. She reads him well and challenges him just the right amount without scaring him. After his first lesson, he told me his favorite part of the day was the pool with Teacher Shelby.

Shelby was very professional and helped our 3 1/2 year old son feel comfortable in the pool without his floaties. He learned to hold his breath, pick up items from the bottom of pool, kick with straight legs, and beginner stokes. Shelby also advised us of things we can do to practicem in between lessons. I recommend Shelby for your children.

Shelby is great. Our 6-yr old's swimming has improved markedly in a short amount of time. She is flexible, responsive, and children are very comfortable with her. Great experience so far

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

-$45 per 45 minute lesson -$10 min for every 15 min after the first 45 min -back to back lessons are fine! -for group lessons, an extra $5 per student

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

Recently, I had a friend who was terrified of the water. Several friends had tried to help her swim, but she said she had no luck. She and I worked together slowly mastering skills, and in 1 lesson, she was already kickboarding around the pool, and working on basic techniques. The most common mistake for someone who is not a trained swimming teacher is to move too fast. A good teacher will break down swimming into small enough steps that the student will become confident , rather than overwhelmed.
