I would not recommend this pro. I reached out specifically to confirm whether they could assemble and install a pergola in my backyard. After sharing the product details and photos of the space, they assured me they could take on the project and even provided a price range ($200–$250). Based on that, I went ahead and ordered the pergola.
Once it arrived and I followed up, they suddenly backed out of the job, saying they couldn’t complete it due to foundation requirements. This was extremely frustrating since I had confirmed with them beforehand to avoid exactly this situation.
If a contractor is unsure or not comfortable with a project, they should be upfront from the start rather than agreeing and then backing out after the client has already invested in materials.

Thank you for your feedback, Rose. My goal on every project is to make sure installations are done safely and correctly. After reviewing the pergola and your site conditions, I realized that without a solid slab or proper footings, the installation would not meet safety standards. For that reason, I could not proceed, as I don’t believe in cutting corners or leaving a client with something that may not hold up long-term.
I understand this was frustrating for you, but I believe being upfront about safety concerns is more professional than moving forward with work that wouldn’t be secure. I wish you the best with your project.
