FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I work on an hourly basis at a very competitive rate. My overhead costs are low, so I pass that along to my clients. The quotes provided through Thumbtack are usually pretty generic until I have the opportunity to meet with you and see the space. After getting an idea of the scope of the project I'm able to provide a more detailed estimate. Items on the quote are a la carte so you can pick and choose what you want help with according to your budget and skill set.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I begin the client/designer collaboration with a design evaluation where we walk through the space, you share your vision and desires, then we discuss your priorities for the remodelbe it aesthetic, function, timeline or budget. I get to know you, take into consideration your personal style, then together, we find inspiration that can be translated into tangible design decisions that reflect you. I create a vision of the entire space, layer by layer, with your input along the way. I do this through concept boards, where you'll see images of sourced items; drawings, where you'll see placement of items in the room; and samples, where you'll be able to touch tiles and fabrics to get a sense of the products. From choosing a suitable color scheme, selecting tiles and light fixtures, to working with fabrics and accessories, I work out all the details until the end result is balanced and perfectly you. I love working collaboratively with clients, but if you have a demanding schedule and need me to take the reins, I'm happy to manage the entire project for you too. Meetings to review the design can be set up to suit your needs and timeline.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I received a BFA from Otis College of Art and Design in the Architecture/Landscape/Interiors program, where I majored in architectural design with a focus on furniture design and fabrication. Since graduation, I have worked for 15+ years at different interior design and architecture firms in the Bay Area where I've had the opportunity to be mentored by prestigious designers in the field.
