Because I had imagined I could independently organize my apartment on my own, I had long postponed hiring a personal organizer. Over time though, I realized my many books and papers seemed to have acquired a life of their own, competing with me --and my higher goals--in my living space. Living in such a crowded space was starting to affect my mood. Imagine then my delight in finding a competent consultant who worked for years in professional interior design! Lauren brought her drill, then after securing my book shelf, lured my things into sorting bags and baskets so that what was once clutter re-acquired its inherent purpose, meaning and manageability. She did all of this in a thoughtful, cooperative and inviting way, never expressing any judgment or impatience.
