Sevilla J. says, "Home Repair Review I recently hired Be Home Remodeling for home repair work, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results. From the initial consultation to the final walkthrough, the entire process was smooth and professional. The team was punctual, respectful of my home, and communicated clearly about what needed to be done and how long it would take. They handled the repair of my railing and outer patio walls with great skill, and the finished work exceeded my expectations. What impressed me most was their attention to detail and commitment to quality. They made sure everything was done correctly and left the work area clean at the end of each day. Pricing was fair, with no hidden surprises, and the customer service was excellent throughout. I highly recommend Be Home Remodeling to anyone in need of reliable and trustworthy home repair services. This was the second time they did work for us and we will definitely call them again for future projects."See more

John A. says, "I highly recommend Edwin New Structural Framing. Edwin came to our Brentwood home and gave us a very reasonable quote for our project. We wanted to install an electric fireplace, cover the new wall with rock, and hang our tv there, too. We asked him to build out the wall to the specified clearance for the fireplace, frame out and put drywall up so it would be ready to receive the stone. We would add the stone and install the fireplace and tv ourselves. Once we agreed to the price, he was able to schedule the project for the following week, estimating it would take 3-4 days. Edwin and his crew member arrived promptly when they said they would. The first thing they did was erect a heavy plastic “workroom barrier” so nothing could escape into the room. They brought all necessary materials and carefully carried out our job. I hadn’t told Edwin that I’m a clean nut, figuring this project would be messy and I’d just have to live with it for a few days. I was wrong. I cannot believe how carefully they contained all the detritus from sawing boards and the drywall after the structure was built. At the end of each work day they swept, vacuumed, and mopped the floor, leaving no trace except the barrier. I have had many construction projects in different homes in different states but I have never seen such attention to detail, even at end of day cleanup. I am truly impressed. I cannot praise Edwin New Structural Framing highly enough. His work product was beautifully done in the allotted time for the contract budget. We changed one item after he began and he actually reduced the contract price because he said it was less work! Edwin does a wonderful job and is a very nice young man, too!"See more

Porch problems often start below the paint, where trapped moisture can loosen boards and fasteners before damage looks serious. In San Francisco, cool, foggy weather can keep surfaces damp longer, and a pro may catch trouble early enough to limit rebuild work.

Troy S. says, "We used Thumbtack to find a contractor who could add and modify railings on exterior stairs to fulfill our homeowner's insurance policy requirements. This is a relatively simply job. We got about 5 good responses from Thumbtack. Many of the contractors had high minimum project costs. Many contractors don't want to take a small job like this. Jericho did not have a minimum requirement and was happy to do the job. Jericho provided the best quote for the work. We had really good daily communication as we converged on a project start date. On the start date, a team of 3 people were on-site, and they completed the bulk of the work in 2 consecutive days. The third consecutive day they did extra touch up on the staining and a few extra details. Final cost was very close to the initial quote, and still lower than other contractor's quotes. This job included both brand new rails, and modifying existing rail. All rails looked identical at the end. Thanks to Jericho for the great work, and Thumbtack for connecting us with them. Highly recommended."See more

Search online to find highly rated carpenters in the San Francisco area. Call a few businesses who have good reviews and ask about their availability. And make sure they have experience completing your project or repairs — whether that’s cabinetry work or building furniture.

Carpenters in San Francisco will hold a license through the state’s Contractors State License Board, so make sure the carpenter is properly licensed. And, get free cost estimates from at least three of the best carpenters near you before making a decision.

By going online, you can search specifically for San Francisco deck contractors who can build your new deck, do a porch remodel or put an addition on to your existing deck or porch.

Check out the pros' online profiles, and look for someone who has experience doing exactly what you want. Viewing customer reviews and past project photos can help you evaluate their expertise and craftsmanship.

Also, find out if the professionals you’re considering have any licenses or other credentials. For example, you can go to California’s Contractors State License Board website and try to verify licenses. You might also find information about their credentials by visiting the contractors’ online profiles.

And, finally, the best deck contractor for your San Francisco home will also fit your budget. Get free estimates from several candidates so you can determine which contractors are highly skilled but also affordable to hire.

A porch may increase your home’s value and boost its curb appeal. However, you’ll need to do your research to understand what types of home upgrades can attract potential buyers.

It costs about $5,000-$10,000 to build a small, basic porch, according to HGTV. Prefabricated porches typically cost around $10,000-$30,000. Larger, custom-made porches can cost as much as $50,000.

To find out exactly how much your porch will cost, request a cost estimate from a porch builder near you.

Yes, your porch should have a foundation that adheres to your local building codes. You can often find this information online. You can also consult your porch builder and ask for their help when navigating building codes.

A sleeping porch is a screened balcony or deck that contains sleep furnishings and cool breezes. If you live in a region that experiences warm weather at night, these porches can provide a way to escape the heat and get a good night’s sleep.

The cost of building a new deck or porch is $1,500. However, this price can vary depending on a few different factors. The square footage of the space, the type of materials to be used, the intricacy of the project and your specific region can cause the price to fluctuate. To find out how much your new deck will cost, get free estimates from the best deck contractors near you.

A back deck may (or may not) increase your home’s value or attract potential buyers if you’re looking to sell. According to the Remodeling Impact Report: Outdoor Features, a new wood deck with an estimated construction cost of $10,000 recovered $8,000 for the overall recovery of 80%. Still, 9% of realtors suggested that home sellers should add a new wood deck before putting their home on the market, and 4% said this project has helped closed deals.

The impact of adding a new deck will likely depend on its material (wood, composite, etc.) and where you live. For example, if you live in an area where people rarely spend time outside because of the weather, it’s reasonable to predict that prospective home buyers might not rate a deck highly on their list of must-haves when looking for a new home.

When in doubt, consult with your realtor or a real estate expert to figure out if adding a new deck to your home is the right move to increase your home’s value. If it is, contact the best deck contractors near you to get free estimates and start planning your project.

If you don’t have the skills, experience and qualifications, building a deck may be difficult for you to do on your own.

Structural integrity is key when constructing anything, but especially something you plan to have your family and friends use regularly. The safety of the structure takes careful planning and experience.

Professional contractors have the knowledge to make a safe, beautiful deck for you. They also know the proper permits and insurance required to legally build a new deck or remodel a porch in your city.

When in doubt, contact the best deck contractors near you and start getting free estimates today.

Carpenters are trained to work with wood. That means that any part of your home that is built of wood is very likely to involve a carpenter. Framing carpenters will put up the wood that makes up the bones of your home. If you’re having a wood floor installed, it may be done by a carpenter — although being a carpenter is not a requirement to install flooring. Trim, baseboards, wainscoting and any other detail work is typically installed by a finish carpenter. The wood boxes of custom cabinets will be built and installed by a carpenter.

Although all of these components in your new or remodeled home are built by carpenters who specialize in building things with wood, a general contractor typically oversees construction of the entire house. If the general contractor is also a carpenter skilled in all these areas, they may well construct your entire home. More often, the general contractor subcontracts out the various building stages to different individuals, including carpenters.
