If you're looking for a skilled and resourceful handyman who is punctual, responsible, and value for your money, David Gomes is your man. I initially hired David to repair two pocket doors - one was stuck and the other did not slide smoothly. I was a little nervous that he had to remove the moulding to repair the doors, but he did a great job. I, also, had him adjust some of my cabinet doors and he worked on my patio doors and screens so they now open so smoothly. David is, indeed, a specialist on doors, but he can do so much more that I had him do other things in my house. . .install 3 new toilets and a new lock and deadbolt on a door, re-grouted some tiles, replace spray hose, moulding in powder room etc. Whenever he finishes a task, he always asks you to check it so that you are completely satisfy with the job. He made several trips to the hardware store to get materials he needed and didn't charge me for his time. I have a large custom home and have used many contractors/handymen for various jobs and I would highly recommend David. I am so glad I found him on Thumbtrack. . .he will be the only handyman I will use from this day forward.
Troy Coleman came through with a same-day repair for a rusted cast-iron pipe, replacing it with a new ABS pipe. He also looked around and spotted other potentially rusting cast-iron Y-joints, without strongly upselling the fixes - I'll keep him in mind for future fixes.
I hired Jasper from My Apartment Is Better Than Yours. I think they did a terrific job at a very reasonable price. I'm really pleased that I decided to go with them. I had a number of unusual carpentry tasks to complete when I moved to my new place. The windows were old and the wood was irregular and moldy, so the wood around the antique glass panels needed to be replaced. I was told those windows hadn't been opened in 40 years, but now they work perfectly and you'd never know the wood wasn't original. Also, several doorways lacked doors when I moved in, and were unusual rounded shapes cut into the stucco without doorframes. Jasper was able to make me custom doors with antique iron-wrought handles, and they look awesome. I also needed threshholds worked on, cabinets put up, new benches made for my roof deck, a custom projector and screen put in, antique chandeliers installed, a lock repaired... and I'm probably forgetting one or two things. They are in the process of putting the finishing touches on my humidor (they had to build me custom legs for it), and it's going to look spectacular. Anyway, they knocked it all out of the park. They were prompt and clean and didn't cause much of a disturbance despite all the work they were doing. They'll be my go-to for anything I need done in the future. I definitely recommend them.
Conn did a great job fixing and replacing issues we had with our crown mounding, baseboards, and doors/jambs/casing. He has great workmanship and skill, and he very much cares how the finished product looks. I will hire him again for any carpentry work in the future. We've used several contractors on our fixer upper over the past 7 years, and he is by far the best we've used.
Needed a latch and other small repairs done to a wrought iron gate. Barry was here the same day and did the job! Great work and I really appreciate his quick response.
We are very pleased with our new outdoor metal railings. From start to finish Tim was professional & easy to work with. He took time to discuss all the options & showed us samples to help our decision. And we are very happy with the results. Mary & David Eklund
Alex did a full rebuild of my 20 year old existing porch. All Azek decking, rails, etc, including 2 sets of stairs, new posts, footings, and concrete slabs. 1st class job, could not have been happier. He finished on time (really!), and was right on budget. He came in 2 thousand dollars less than the next lowest comparable bid, and several thousand less than some. . There was close to zero wasted materials/returns. He adjusted on the fly, was creative, and showed excellent attention to detail. I will use him again, and will gladly recommend him to anyone.
My husband and I were looking for help on a few odd jobs we needed done in the house, but it was very difficult to find someone to help. We wanted to install a fireplace mantel, an attic ladder, and a new sink with a disposal. Apparently, the jobs were just too small for most contractors. I found Edwin on Thumbtack and then checked out his personal website. He came out to see what work would be required, gave a very reasonable estimate, and scheduled a time to come do the work. When he arrived, he not only did the work quickly and professionally, but he explained what he was doing and why. My husband and I were very grateful since we want to learn how to do things ourselves. Unfortunately, as we were cleaning up, an item fell and nicked our wood floor. Edwin had to leave, so my husband and I did what we could to repair the floor. Nothing worked, so we called the original installers. It cost $50 to get them to come out, and they estimated the repair would cost more than $300. I contacted Edwin to see if he had any other suggestions, and he came out that same weekend and fixed the floor in under 45 minutes. We had all the materials, so it cost us nothing! I would definitely recommend him to anyone, and my husband and I will call him in the future if there is ever anything we dont feel comfortable doing ourselves. Edwin is amazing!
Fred does quality work at a fair price. You can tell he takes pride in his work and is concerned with the customer's satisfaction. I had gotten a few estimates to replace the rail and repair the wood rot on my front deck. When Fred came out for the estimate, the thing that stood out to me was his attention to detail. He noticed and pointed out a few more things than the other contractors. His bid was in the middle of the other contractors, but I think it was a fair price and I felt the most confident in his work. Fred did an excellent job and I was very happy with the results! So much so, that I hired him to fix my back and side decks as well as paint my house. I definitely plan on going back to him for projects I'll have in the future.
This guy was amazing. He modified a wrought iron fence by turning it upside down and placing new feet and attachment bars on both side and bottom. He also welded tops on my work trailer for security. You NEED to use this guy if you're looking for metal work.
The work that Karl performed for me was extensive since I have a 5000sq. ft. home. I will describe each area of the job. Plumbing: Replaced all fixtures in 3 bathrooms including underneath all sinks hot and cold water valves. Cleaned out all drains in sinks and showers. Cleaned out main drain to house ensuring no back up within entire house. Electrical: Installed Gfi plugs wherever necessary. Installed carbon monoxide/fire sensors throughout house, including garage. Removed old light fixtures and installed recessed lights in bathroom ceiling. Installed new light fixture in entrance of home. Removed old lights around perimeter of house and installed outdoor security lights. Removed old appliances in kitchen; installed new oven, gas stove top, new washer and electrical dryer. Master bedroom fixed recessed lighting that was not working, also installed magnification mirror at makeup area. Replaced garage door opener that was not working and made sure that all remotes were programmed and working, five in total. Tile Work: Finished tile work in home that was started by another contractor and left unfinished. Was very concerned that work would not match up but Karl completed job beautifully! And Karl was very, very conscientious in making sure there was no grout debris left on tile, unlike previous work that was done. Karl cleaned previous workers tiles and sealed tile whereas other contractor left undone. Went throughout house and fixed any missing grout from tile work done in previous years, with good match up. In one bathroom I didn't want the old tile removed but it was very dirty. He cleaned up tile to look new. Cleaned up all tile in bathroom shower stalls. Replaced grout on veranda outside kitchen. Paint: Karl's paint work was clean and concise. If I wasn't happy with any of his work, he would go back and do as asked with a very positive attitude because he wanted me to be happy. It was all about what I wanted, not what he wanted. Always with a smile and concern for my feelings. Stucco and Grout Outside Home: Steps and railing leading to front door were badly damaged due to earth settlement. Filled all cracks and secured railing. Filled all hairline cracks wherever necessary on outside of home and repainted. General Construction: Changed out all hardware on all doors throughout house. Built me 3 closets, one in former office which I turned into a bedroom. In family room I had 2 closets, one he redid into a space for an office installing electrical and bringing in lines for Internet connection. He then took an office desk for the computer that I had in office, cut it down to fit within closet therefore creating an office within closet whereby I could close doors when finished working. Installed all computer equipment, wifi, printers, etc. The other closet he built shelves and coat rack, all from scratch. Cleaned all my kitchen cabinets and put a clear coat on for shine. Cleaned and polished all laminate countertops in kitchen for shine to bring back luster. Installed water filtration system in kitchen. Hung new rods for curtains in bedrooms. Cleaned all vents and replaced air filters in whole house. Inventoried all keys to all doors and had copies made and labeled for all doors throughout home. Installed security locks to pool room and sliding glass doors leading to balcony off kitchen for child-proofing. General, General: Karl is a jack of all trades and can do ANYTHING. He also does computer work, can solve or come up with any solution that you may have a problem with. He thinks outside the box. If you know how to ask and communicate, be clear and concise with what you want done, be honest in your request for a job done, Karl is YOUR MAN. He is EXTREMELY FAIR, has a CONSCIENCE! and wants to please. Your responsibility is to be those things in kind. Karl is a huge find. I kept him working for about a year because there were so many things to be done. I actually and honestly was sad that the project ended. Karl is now my go to because I turned my house into a rental. He is on call for any and all projects because I know that he is reliable and trustworthy.
James did a weld on our 50’s chrome tube chair. Very clean weld done quickly. Definitely recommend.
