FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Private yoga instruction in the Bay Area typically runs from $100 to $200 per hour. Much more affordable group classes at gyms and yoga studios are typically just $20 or $25 an hour, but these classes usually have many students, no personal attention, and often provide a disappointing quality of instruction. Because I want to make high-quality instruction available to a wide range of people, and because I use Zoom to eliminate the overhead of a studio, I charge a steeply discounted $75 per hour for private, custom-for-you instruction, and just $20 an hour for group classes that I keep small enough to allow for personal attention.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I send new clients a brief questionnaire that helps me shape even the first session to the individual person's current state and objectives. As we work together, I continually reshape the specifics of instruction to line up with your evolving needs.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Formerly certified in massage and licensed in nursing, I am currently certified to teach yoga and meditation. I have additional, specialized training in yoga for flexibility, yoga for pain reduction, individually personalized yoga instruction, and mindfulness-based pain reduction. I have a masters degree and work experience in counseling psychology, and have been a public speaker on psychological and religious subjects. I am a student and practitioner of secular Zen Buddhism, provide 1 on 1 secular Zen coaching relevant to your specific personal challenges, and am writing a book on Zen as well as on YAMPS yoga and meditation.
