Chris did an amazing job transforming our deck. The old paint was peeling off and it was not in a presentable state. Chris’s attention to detail with 3 stages of sanding really brought it back to life! Our deck is only accessible from inside the house and Chris took extra care and laid down drop cloths to transport his equipment onto the deck and kept everything very clean. He also was flexible with a couple days we needed to adjust the schedule. And he finished the job faster than expected! I would gladly recommend Chris to anyone looking to give their deck a new life.
I hired Chris to stain my deck, and his advice on how to approach the project was really valuable. While other contractors suggested different methods, his plan for prepping and staining was clear and sensible. We recently had a new deck built and stained by a different contractor. They completely destroyed the deck by improperly staining it. We found Chris on Thumbtack and he quickly responded and came to do an estimate the following day. He was very professional and it was obvious he was very knowledgeable and passionate about his work, and his price was very fair so we knew he would be perfect for the job. Chris sanded down 2 decks completely, even making sure to get in between each board. The sander he used has a vacuum attached which prevented all that sawdust from going into our pool! The final product after sanding and re-staining was BEAUTIFUL!!!! The entire process took 3 days. He was very prompt and tidy! I would recommend Chris to do your deck if you want it done right!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing is quite fair and takes into consideration the complexity of the project. Balusters and railings, deck boards, steps, and exterior rim bands all need to be considered in measurements.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I get all of the information upfront so that there are no surprises in the process. This can include getting pictures and measurements from the client or a visit for me to do the measurements myself. It can sometimes be both.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a certificate of completion and an honors award for excellence from Central County Occupational Center. I have a four-year apprenticeship program for from the Carpenter apprenticeship program.
I am a licensed contractor from the state of California.
