Miena was my Korean teacher, and she is the best foreign language teacher I have ever had! She has the patience of a saint and pays attention to each individual student she has. She caters to any teaching style that her students desire and makes sure that each student learns what they have been taught. I will elaborate further.
No matter how much difficulty I or any other student had learning a word or concept in the Korean language, Miena never lost her patience. She never gave up until every last one of her students demonstrated a thorough understanding of the word or concept she was teaching. Another example of when Miena demonstrated patience was when I lost my Korean worksheets. I asked Miena to reprint them, and she did so without any fuss or complaint. She could have told me to "be more responsible", and she did not need to reprint anything for me. But she did so anyway, out of the kindness of her heart. During another time,e I was looking through my handwritten notes I took during class, which were too sloppy for even me to read. I asked her if she could give a printout of every single word we learned in class. During her own personal time, she typed out all the words and gave me a several-page printout of all the words we knew. She truly goes above and beyond in teaching her class.
I can also explain how she pays attention to each of her students. First off, she doesn't treat any student differently, nor does she employ favoritism. The top-performing students will get the same type of treatment and respect as the slowest learners in the class. All throughout my life, I've seen bosses and teachers give more respect to those they perceive as being better performers, and treat those they perceive as weak performers much worse. Miena is very different in that regard, and regardless of how well the student performs in her class (whether good or bad), or how hard the student tries, she will treat everyone equally with the utmost kindness and respect. Miena was never patronizing or condescending to any single one of her students for a single second. This type of kindness made me want to work harder in learning Korean.
Miena was also extremely well prepared for every class she taught! She always had a lesson plan and never forgot any of her props for helping teach.
Finally, Miena is personally very nice and has a great sense of humor. She is absolutely hilarious when she teaches her class. All I can say is that if you want a great Korean teacher who won't disappoint, look no further!
