About
Canine Centric was founded in 2013 with a simple yet powerful mission: to help dogs and their owners better understand one another. A well-trained dog isn’t just easier to live with, it can help prevent behavioral issues, improve safety, and enhance a dog’s overall quality of life. With nearly two decades of hands-on experience working with dogs, I bring both professional knowledge and real-world training experience to every session. Over the years, I have developed a training approach that focuses on clarity, communication, and building strong relationships between dogs and their owners. Training should be engaging, effective, and enjoyable for both dogs and their people. At Canine Centric, we work with dogs of all ages, sizes, and breeds to help them and their owners develop practical real-world skills and a stronger bond. Lea has always had a natural connection with dogs. She began working professionally with dogs in 2006 as a dog handler and started observing and assisting with training classes in 2009. In 2013, she earned a certificate in Training and Behavior from the Dog Training Internship Academy created by Janis Bradley, a six-month program focused on canine behavior, training principles, and professional client consultation. Lea is an AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) evaluator and a UKC SPOT evaluator. She teaches classes through Sirius Puppy & Dog Training, founded by Ian Dunbar. Her passion for training is evident in her work with both clients and their dogs. She enjoys teaching people how to “speak dog” and helping them build stronger, more rewarding relationships with their canine companions. In addition to working with clients, Lea is also an active dog sports competitor. She regularly trains and works with her own dogs at a high level, giving her practical insight into developing reliability, focus, and strong partnerships. She is committed to ongoing education through seminars, workshops, and practical experience. Lea shares her life with her husband and her canine companion, Gambit the Belgian Malinois.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Every successful training program begins with a New Client Consultation. This in-home session allows us to get to know your dog, observe their behavior in their everyday environment, and discuss your goals for training. During the consultation, we will evaluate your dog’s temperament, current skills, and any behavioral challenges you may be experiencing. We will also discuss practical training strategies and answer your questions so you leave with a clear understanding of the next steps. Following the consultation, you will receive a detailed written summary of our session along with personalized training exercises to begin working on right away. Price: $200 Individual Coaching Sessions (New Client Consultation Required) Private coaching sessions allow you to continue developing your dog’s skills while addressing specific training goals or challenges. Each session is customized to support your progress. Price: $120 per session

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have always had a natural connection with dogs. My professional journey began in 2006 as a dog handler, and by 2009 I was observing and assisting with training classes. In 2013, I earned a Certificate in Training and Behavior from the Dog Training Internship Academy created by Janis Bradley, a six-month program focused on canine behavior, training principles, and client consultation. I am an AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Evaluator and a UKC SPOT Evaluator. I teach classes through Sirius Puppy & Dog Training and am passionate about helping people understand their dogs, communicate more effectively, and build lasting partnerships based on trust and clarity. Beyond client work, I actively train and compete in dog sports with my own dogs. This hands-on experience provides practical insight into developing reliability, engagement, and teamwork. I remain committed to continuing education through seminars, workshops, and ongoing training experience.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I started working at a local dog daycare when I was 16. By the time I was 18 I was at another daycare and then started to get into training when I was 19.
