We had the greatest experience with Doug! Not only did he get us an appointment quickly, he was prompt with his responses and so easy to connect and communicate with! He made our shoot so much fun and he was so patient with the 11 of us! Especially when the 3 year old decided she wasn’t having it. He had great ideas for poses and backgrounds. We are so happy with the gorgeous photos he shot of our family and can’t wait to connect with him again when we need new ones!

I contacted Doug Ellis because I wanted some maternity photos taken with my family. I love Santa Barbara so I asked him if he could help us find the perfect beach location. He found the most amazing location with tons of spots where we were able to take the most beautiful maternity photos. On top of that, he was so sweet and patient with our almost 2 year old little girl who isn't the biggest fan of photo shoots. We were able to get so many beautiful photographs and wonderful memories. I couldn't be happier. Thank you again!

The experience was great from start to finish. We met downtown, and simply walked around while Doug took pictures. Easy and casual. It's clear he has been doing this for many years, and is good at it. I highly recommend Doug. Great photographer and an overall good guy!

Doug took some beautiful pictures of my office space that I am using for marketing. He is a true pro and talented and I wish I had had a better gig for him. He deserves it!

Doug Ellis Photography Review Never before as a teacher or administrator, within the last 30 years of taking school pictures have I witnessed a staff and child population express the amount of joy that Doug and his assistant Josh captured on our Picture Day. Doug is professional. Before our picture day, he met with me to discover the ideal photography location. He worked with me every step of the way, making the process easy over a two-day span. As the director of St. Mark Preschool, the staff and I serve families with children ages 12 months to 6 years old. Doug and Josh took their time warming up to each child. They played music, games, roared, made funny faces and coax smiles and expressions that convey the children’s and staff’s personalities. Doug was expeditious in getting a photo link and gallery for each staff member and family to order from. He offered a variety of packages. The packages ranged from cost effective to one with holiday cards and a photo ornament. Without exception, staff and families are thrilled and grateful for the time, expertise, and results of their children’s photos. Schools generally call on “school photographers.” I am so happy we went with Doug Ellis Photography. We will be asking he and Josh back for years to come. Michele Martin, Director - St. Mark Preschool I heard such great things about the picture day! I appreciate all you are doing I was so excited to get Drew's picture taken. Of course, we went through 3 outfits before we had to throw on something random. HAHAHA! The reasons for the outfit changes are hilarious! First outfit got peed on because the shirt was a little too long. Second outfit was a button-down shirt, but he has sensory issues and he hated it. I tried to incentivize him with a piece of Halloween candy to try sitting in it for 10 min to see if he would forget. He did not forget, and the jolly rancher stick candy was blue, and it turned his whole mouth/lips/chin blue. The blue would not come off, so I had to use coconut oil to remove it. Drew now smells like Hawaii and we take off the button-down shirt. Third outfit was another new shirt and cute shorts that were too big and I was afraid he would pee on the shirt and the shorts kept falling off. We were laughing so hard. Finally, we threw on some clothes that I pulled out of the dryer the night before and I took him to school wrinkled because I had a huge presentation to do. I laughed all day about it. Good thing he is so cute ;) Jody Brown/St. Mark Preschool Parent Hi Michele! School photos are such an important thing for our family, especially my mother and grandmother whom we haven’t seen in person during the pandemic. And I just had to be *that* mom with a brush in hand for Abby’s hair. I’m so happy I was able to be there in the wings this morning! I wanted to share how impressed I was with the photographers this year!! The social distancing of the pods was great, the kids seemed relaxed and willing to wait their turns, and the photographer team was so so great at getting the kids engaged for their pictures! It felt like a family photoshoot more than potentially stuffy school portraits! Thank you for making arrangements for this sweet little tradition & bit of normalcy and exceeding expectations in the process! With gratitude, Kendra Summers Bauman/St. Mark Preschool Parent Btw- the pictures were well worth the $30 and that was actually a great deal for such a good photographer. Happy to have him back in the future. Bonnie M. Garcia/ St. Mark Preschool Parent

FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? That there is nothing hidden! I make it super simple. Business portraits and family portraits both have a flat session fee that includes retouching and use of all the files. It is based on how many different "looks" you want to do and there are no surprises.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I typically call and coach my clients through a pre-session discovery form give them a fashion/style guide and posing tips and sometimes help coordinate hair and makeup through my favorite makeup team. We also set an intention and do some stretching/energy practices to get the good juju flowing before the session. There is also an assistant with us to focus on details and help you feel relaxed.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Yes, I do workshops all the time--including leading them-- and am continually practicing and refining my craft and widening my own consciousness/inner aperture.
