Hi! My name is John, I have been a coach for the past 31 years. Five years as an International traveling coach in the ATF/ITF junior circuit. Strong experience in coaching high performance junior players competing in USTA tournaments (National and local). Tennis professional at Stanford tennis under John Whitlinger. I have a passion for coaching, I love the look on my students faces when my instructions click in their minds. I believe tennis is the most fun sport a person can play and I love to share its joy with others. I'm proficient in coaching all levels, from beginners to advanced.

John is an awesome coach. He is professional and has lots of teaching experiences. John was able to correct my bad movements on the first lesson. Now I'm having more confidence with my strokes. Tennis is hard to learn from watching YouTube videos or practicing alone. Some coach has to be there for teaching the correct moves and habits. John is definitely the coach that can help with my game. I look forward to have more lessons with John for more improvements.

I started lessons with John as an adult beginner. Having zero experience playing tennis I was a little nervous but John is such a great coach and has a lot of patience. He’s a pro and is very knowledgeable making him a good instructor for players of all ages and levels. He’s really good at explaining the technicalities of the sport and a great teacher. He’s also just a friendly guy and his positive vibes makes it fun. I’ve had 3 sessions and I’ve already learned and improved so much. I’m looking forward to growing in this sport and glad I found John to be my coach.

After working with Coach John for a few sessions, I can tell he is a greatly experienced tennis coach. He is excellent in observing my strokes and suggesting tweaks and adjustments on my grip, swing, arm extension and foot work to improve my overall tennis skills. He is a great communicator too, always looking for my feedbacks on the tips he gives. He is also very excited about tennis matches, has great knowledge on modern tennis techniques and tries to incorporate them into his students' playing. I think he is a good coach for all level tennis players and has better teaching ability than a professor like me ;)

John is great. He is always energetic which I really appreciate. I started as a total beginner and was not good at almost every kind of sport. But thanks to his instructions, I gained confidence on playing tennis. And thanks to his reminding about some details like tennis shoes and dampeners, I avoid body injury.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $75/hr. There is an option of discounted pre-paid lesson packages.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I got certified by USPTA 30 years ago. I was a travelling coach for ITF/ATF junior circuit that included trips to the world junior ATF championships held yearly in Malaysia and the US Open in New York. I taught in private clubs and afterschool programs in the Southern Bay Area as well.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
My first cousin was a world class junior player and was the number 1 ranked junior in the Philippines. This peaked my interest in the game and started coaching while i was still attending College.
