About
I make sure each meal or lesson is perfectly matched to you! I love seeing people gather together for a meal and I especially love when guests are excited or moved by the meal they eat. We live in such a fast paced world that it's so important to remember to slow down, take a seat, be grateful for what's in front of you and enjoy what you're eating. Giving cooking lessons is also great joy to me, to show people how easy and fun cooking your own meals can be. Some example menus: Little bites Trio di bruschette- (toasted bread 3 ways) Fave e Pecorino with optional pancetta Sautéed mushrooms Tomatoes, cucumber and basil Whole Roasted Branzino with portuguese "punched potatoes" and olives. Sample Cooking lessons: Breakfast for beginners- I can help first-time cooks learn their way around the kitchen in a fun and memorable way, making granola, sweet and savory crepes and eggs benedict. Hearty Autumn soups- Soups are a great way to get more vegetables in your diet, they also freeze very well so you can make defrost for an easy lunch or dinner. Baking: Breads and cakes. I love bread. All kinds. We can make an Italian focaccia or pizza, a rich brioche for a special Sunday brunch or get a sourdough started. I enjoy baking healthy cakes that you don't need to feel guilty about eating, using honey or agave to sweeten them, yogurt or olive oil instead of butter and shredded vegetables for texture and sweetness. Yum!

Sara is an incredibly kind open-hearted mindful lady Chef. I have terrible Celiac and a complicated auto immune issue and she has helped me and my stomach back to wellness. She's generous with her time and knowledge and inspires happy fun cooking. I also have 2 boys, 1 of which is Autistic, her patience and compassion has inspired them to cook and try new things together and now one of them wants to be a chef. She's awesome. You absolutely will not be disappointed. Karen Scott

Decided to have Sara help me cook some easy meals for two that aren't my go-to recipes (aka pasta or chicken sausage). Needless to say, this was the most delicious meal I have eaten at home in a VERY long time. I didn't even think I would be able to learn how to cook a WHOLE fish and de-bone it. It tasted amazing and she fielded all of my ridiculous questions. She also taught me some amazing tricks with rubbing a whole garlic clove on toasted bread (MAGICAL). She made a killer bruschetta to go with it that blew my mind. The best part was she was so easy going and made it all look so simple. She made me feel comfortable about cooking again.

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I like to cater to each customers needs. I will ask various questions to find out what kind of event or lesson you are interested in. Be it a special birthday dinner for 25 people, or an intimate dinner for two, a cooking lesson for a total beginner or a practiced home cook wanting to increase their skills, I try to find the right menu for each.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have lived, learned and cooked in Italy and England and the US, and have read and studied myriad cookbooks. I have done a course on biodynamic nutrition in Italy, which focuses on a vegetable and grain based diet. I prefer a healthy eating style, but at the same time don't want to go hungry and feel too restricted by fad diets.
