Introduction: I focus on positive learning experiences for my students, whether or not they have had previous martial arts experience. The goal is to strike a balance between Empathy & Grit: Planting seeds of Self-Confidence and tempering them with Sportsmanship and Respect.
My most favorite part of empowering kids is observing when students realize just how powerful they are and how much control over their own lives & happiness they already have!

Incredibly valuable for the safety of your child! So much more than martial arts alone!
We have been learning from Master Alonzo (camps and classes) since the summer of 2016 and have been continually impressed by (and grateful for) his outstanding instruction. His whole-child curriculum and implementation of it are both first-rate. Every exercise and activity is intelligently calculated for the desired result, which is children who are mindful, empathetic, strong, confident, respectful of themselves and others, prepared, skilled, and able to defend themselves and others verbally and physically against everything from verbal disrespect to unwanted touches, to violent assault. A thorough understanding of child development guides his age-appropriate instruction, and he leads the class in a fluid, engaging way that is both effective and entertaining. He's great at adjusting his tone on-the-fly as he "reads the room" and the result is optimal "classroom management." He has the kids squealing with laughter one moment and silently revering him the next, and matches his humor/seriousness balance and flow to the maturity and behavior of the students. Everyone loves him, respects him, has so much fun, and really learns!
Best of all, it works. My son was bullied for an entire school year. I brought him to Master Alonzo the following summer for camp and after that point my son was able to put a quick end to the bullying on his own without conflict because of his newfound confidence and ability to assert himself calmly and clearly in his own defense.
I highly recommend Master Alonzo and his classes, camps, and after school programs!

Our daughter has been studying with Richard for the past 6 years and he's been a stabilizing and guiding force in her life. His care for the development of each child is evident in his attention and playfulness and seriousness and pride. Our daughter respects and adores Master Alonzo and we are so grateful for his presence in our life.

Our daughter has been studying at Alonzo Martial Arts since she was 4. He is a patient and fun instructor. Excellent role model. He knowledge of martial arts is exceptional and is always bringing in new techniques to share. Highly recommended. The best deal on the west side.

Dojo2go is the best! Mr. Alonzo is a fantastic instructor and our daughter wants to go everyday day. After the first class we knew this was the right place for her. Mr. Alonzo clearly has a passion for teaching kids and it shows.
