Don came and retrofitted a cabinet for my new dishwasher and fixed my old cabinet doors and handles for me as well. While he was at it, I asked him to refinish a table that had been sitting in the garage for a long time. He was able to flow up my 63 year old cabinets and table in no time.
I appreciated his craftsmanship, knowledge and problem solving ability.

Don did a great job on our linen cabinet upgrade- taking it from 1980 track home to 2022. The new trim he built and installed is perfect. He is also very nice, keeps it real and gets the job done. We would love for him to do some other work for us in the near future!

I want to highly recommend Don McKay for any cabinet work you may have. My experience with him was phenomenal. I got him and one other (very good) cabinet carpenter to quote on my job. Don’s was much less expensive, mainly because he understood a simpler way of doing it. He is so knowledgeable. As we worked through all aspects of my job time and time again Don’s vast knowledge-base made the job simpler, and better. This includes cabinet construction, wood types, finishes (veneers, etc.), paints, dishwasher connections (water, drain, and electrical), glues, epoxies, solvents, countertops, lighting – the list goes on and on. With that knowledge, and his craftmanship – he’s very much the perfectionist – he was able to get us just what we wanted, the fastest way, at the lowest price. He’s very professional - always on time, and works hard. And interestingly – he was mostly done with the job, and I was so happy with it, that I offered to pay him the total for the work, even before he completed it. And he refused, saying “I never take payment for completion until the client is 100% satisfied at the very end of the project.” That’s professional. Details: Rebuilt the kitchen cabinet under the sink, and next to dishwasher, that had to be removed to eradicate some mold from water leaks. Don installed the new cabinet – a perfect match with the rest of the kitchen – and made sure there will not be any more water leaks.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing is straight forward. I give you a price for the job and that's it. No hidden costs after we start. The ONLY time the price changes is with add ons and we charge very little for those since we are already on the job. I do not haggle price since my price is always the best for the same product. I also do not mark up supplies instead I give you the same wholesale prices I pay so you have more money for your project.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I come to the clients home and review the project with the client. We discuss all options and I come up with a plan of action.
Next, I then send them a detailed estimate for the work we discussed. I NEVER take any payments until the project is ready to begin and then only a percentage of the total.
I am NOT a pushy salesman, I am the company owner. I will not badger clients into doing the work and on occasion I will recommend other courses of action to save the client money.
I will never take payment for completion until the client is 100% satisfied at the very end of the project.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been in the cabinet business since 1984. I have done almost every type of cabinet and entertainment furniture.
I attend trade shows where new products are brought out and learn how and where to use them.
I trained employees for all of the time I have been in this business.
