Ken G. says, "This is my first time hiring someone off of Thumbtack, and I'm really happy that I gave it a try. A section of outlets went dead a month ago, and I replaced the GFCI outlet myself. Fixed! At least for a while. A couple weeks later, the breaker for those fuses switched off in the breaker panel. I flipped it back on, and it worked. About a week later, it switched off again, and flipping it made no difference. I found SkillyHand and liked the reviews I read about the so I gave them a try. They responded almost immediately and set up an appointment for the next morning. Communication was great, and Dimitri and Igor showed up right when they said they would. Whoa, this review is getting long, huh? Let me stop being so long-winded and just say that they gave me a quote which honestly felt a little high. I agreed, and they went to Home Depot for the parts. After a while, they identified the true source of the problem... I had incorrectly installed the GFCI outlet which ended up burning out a wire in the wall. OMG!!! Then they spent hours fixing that without changing their original quote. In the end, we decided that it was best to totally replace one of the wires from the breaker panel to the indoor panel which required another trip to Home Depot and hours more work - a grand total of eight hours! Yes, the additional work did increase the invoice considerably, but it was all well worth it. When they were finished, they put everything back in its place (fridge, washing machine, etc.) and cleaned up beautifully. They were very focussed on their work while they were here and were incredibly professional. In short, they are my new go-to for anything electrical around the house. They said that they also do other handyman projects so I'm sure I'll give them a try with that as well. Anyway, don't hesitate for a second to hire them!"See more

Brandon H. says, "Appointment scheduled for 10a. Didn't show up. I texted and they said another 40 minutes. I told them I had to take my daughter to school and would be home in 45 minutes. I texted them again 45 minutes later when I arrived home and no response. I'm unclear what happened but an hour after that he got in touch with me, apologized and came right over. He was very professional and thorough. I had found a neutral wire issue when I replaced a light switch and wanted him to figure out what was going on and fix it. He came over and confirmed that something was screwy so he went up into the attic and found that the previous installers had installed the bathroom fan without connecting the neutral wires (unsafe) or venting the fan to the roof. He connected the neutrals and then rewired the gang so everything was properly wired. While it was a bumpy start, I'm still going to give him 5 stars for his professionalism, thoroughness and work quality."See more
