Jeff did a fantastic job. I had several holes in the wall in a bedroom. I really thought I would need to replace the drywall however Jeff came in and fixed all the holes and painted the room. You can't tell there were holes there. Very professional man. Everything was cleaner when he left! I will use him again. I'm so happy with the job he did!

Pedros and helper did a great job for me taking care of some drywall and putting in a new landing pad wood piece under the sink. They also gave me free sealant for another issue. They were friendly, hard working and helpful and good quality work. I will use them again. Thanks Pedros!

We are very happy with the remodel that Purev General Contracting did for our guest bath, family room and spare bedroom. Guree and Eric did a fantastic job and were very easy to work with. The crew was fast and efficient and always left the worksite clean at the end of each day. They installed a new sliding door, relocated the bathroom door to a different wall, drywall, installed luxury vinyl plank flooring, baseboards, recessed lighting, new carpet, paint and even repaired some unexpected dry rot that caused structural damage. Both have great attention to detail and take pride in their work. I would not hesitate to recommend them and will definitely be using them for future projects.

We hired Barry to remodel out kitchen. He did a great job. He was very nice to work with and reasonable on price. He came in on budget and stayed to the schedule. I only hired three companies to do the project. I had the cabinets installed by the cabinet makers and counter top installer that Barry referred me to. Barry did the rest. All of the demo, drywall, tile, electrical, lights, plumbing, baseboards, crown, appliance installs, vents, ducts, backslash, and I am sure more. All of which was completed in 13 DAYS !!!. I recommend Barry for any kitchen or bathroom remodel.

Best experience I've ever had with a handyman -- and owning several properties, I've had a LOT of experiences. Gerardo responded to contacts promptly, and was flexible about scheduling. He arrived exactly when he said he would, quickly evaluated the several projects I needed, and set to work. Gerardo listens closely to your requests, not a common attribute among skilled craftsmen. He will make tactful suggestions, but accomplish what YOU want, not what he thinks will be "right". His work is precise, professional and creative. He is careful to protect your home while working, laying paper or plastic to catch sawdust or drywall debris; my house was cleaner when he left than when he arrived. Gerardo is polite, low-key, and a delight to work with. He charges by the hour, which I appreciate; he works quickly but doesn't rush or shortcut a project, nor does he needlessly draw it out to inflate the time charge. I would recommend Gerardo for any project you have; in fact, I would recommend calling him quickly, because I have more projects, and it looks as if he's going to be awarded a big contract that will limit his availability. First rate in every category.

We hired Pedro to put in recessed lights throughout our house. He completed the work on time, within budget and professionally. He went the extra mile, patching some existing drywall holes and even fixed our doorbell, was a much bigger task than I had envisioned! We would definitely recommend Pedro for electrical work. We will also invite him back to paint our interior. Mike

I called Ben Brower to discuss some drywall repairs that I needed done. He was able to provide me a quote after I described to him the sizes of drywall patches I needed. I set up an appointment for next day service, but, I ended up having to call him back in the later part of the afternoon due to additional questions. Fortunately he is finished with the job he had earlier in the day and he was able to arrive at my house after my work. I am very happy to have him over to patch up my drywalls. He not only patched my drywall, but also help me out by fixing a missing Vent for my Dryer. He went to the hardware store and got the part needed, Installed it, and finished up my drywall very nicely -- With Orange Peel and all. He also did a very professional job at my garage walls - all parts that needed patching was done very well as far as I'm concerned. Ben is an honest man and he didn't take advantage of me even though I showed him a couple areas of drywall and asked for his opinion. It didn't need replacement after all. I sincerely appreciate that. So... Bottom Line --- If you need Drywall Repair, Big or Small -- Ben Brower is the man for you. He knows what he's doing and he charged fairly ! Hire Ben!

Its refreshing to find someone like Anthony and Homestead Property Services. I hired them for drywall, tape, and texture for a complete home remodel. Not only did they offer great work at an affordable price, but they were professional and communicated well. I would recommend them to anyone!

Alejandro did an awesome job on our bathroom and closets. We had a sewage back up into our condo and needed our newly drywalled walls textured and painted. Alejandro was super easy to talk to and listened to all our request. If we weren't pleased with something he would redo it to our satisfaction. He was very reasonably priced. I will be using him in the future for any further painting jobs. Highly recommended.

I had water damage about an inch and a half from the floor up in my master bathroom around the whole perimeter. I requested about four estimates from different companies but I chose drywall angels because their response time was quick, james was able to estimate my job with me texting photos and a description of what I had. Made it super easy and convenient. I didn’t even wait for the other bids because I wanted this done quickly before the kids go back to school. The job was done quickly, but the quality was great! I can’t even tell there had been any damage which he promised I wouldn’t. I feel the price was right for the job outcome, will hire again if I have any issues with drywall in the future. Highly recommended!

Outstanding work and service. I had several rooms painted and all of them required some patching. The price was very competitive. Alexandre is easy to work with and he makes sure you're satisfied. He's good about cleaning up at the end of the project. All in all, a pleasure to work with him. I definitely plan to use him in the future.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much will it cost to fix a hole in the wall?

If you have a hole in your wall, don’t despair; drywall repair professionals can patch the hole and repaint the surface and no one will be the wiser. The cost to repair a drywall hole depends on the size of the surface area of the damage, the materials and labor required, and (for a minor repair) any minimum service fee the repair company may charge. The actual labor and drywall prices may be lower than the minimum service fee, but pros must ensure their business overhead costs are met when they go out on minor jobs. To help keep costs low once the pros get there, make sure you have the right paint on hand if you want them to do to a touch up after the repair is complete, so you don’t keep them wait (and charging you for their time) while you search in the garage. Here are two examples of average prices for smaller drywall repair jobs:

  • Approximate cost to repair a 5-foot crack in a wall: $125 (labor $75 and materials $50).
  • Approximate cost to repair a 3-foot ceiling crack: $150.

What is the difference between sheetrock and drywall?

People sometimes use the terms “sheetrock” and “drywall” interchangeably, but they are not exactly the same. Drywall is the industry term for prefabricated sheets of wall, while Sheetrock is the brand name of a type of drywall. Depending on what room is being built, your drywall installation pro will select different thicknesses or grades of drywall. Standard residential drywall is ½-inch thick. Garage walls adjacent to a living space are typically ⅝-inch thick and serve as a firewall. For a garage ceiling, most contractors will use firewall-grade drywall materials to keep your home as safe as possible.

Different types of drywall can be color-coded to indicate their purpose. Purple or green drywall boards are often mold-resistant (MR) and are applied where moisture tends to accumulate, such as in bathrooms and basements or behind tile backsplashes at sinks. These mold-resistant sheets have a fiberglass instead of a paper facing finish to prevent water absorption. Regular drywall is gray or white. The drywall industry is constantly adapting with technology to provide safer and more targeted materials. You can even install soundproofing drywall to help prevent noise transfer through rooms.

How much does it cost to put up drywall?

The national average cost to hire a drywall installation professional ranges $375-$1,500, depending on the job at hand and where you are in the country. Your drywall installation cost will often be lower if the professional is installing the drywall in a new construction with open access as opposed to a remodel. The square footage of the job, the amount of materials, and the labor required also determine drywall prices. According to drywall pros, materials costs can range from 15 percent to 50 percent of your total project cost, depending on the work you’re having done. Request several quotes from drywall installation companies to find the right fit for your construction project. The quotes may be based on the company’s standard cost per square foot or a calculation of the time estimated to complete the job plus the size of the job plus materials and any travel fees. For example, drywall installation for one or two standard-size rooms could cost $900-$1,500. The cost to hang and tape an outbuilding with approximately 40 drywall sheets at 75 cents per square foot could total $1,450, including 3.75 days of labor for the drywall crew.

How much does it cost to repair drywall?

The national average price range to repair drywall is $210-$300. Drywall prices can vary greatly depending on the size of the hole or crack that needs repair, the amount of materials required, and other factors. Cracks can appear at the seams in your drywall due to uncontrollable factors like your house settling or even minor earthquakes. Drywall, although sturdy, will break with enough impact, so if a dresser falls and crashes into a wall or your have a mishap hammering in nails for artwork, you could need drywall repair. Drywall repair professionals may have a minimum service fee of $100-$150 regardless of the size of the job. This ensures that their business expenses are met anytime they send their crew out to a job. Here are some additional examples of average drywall repair prices:

  • Sand and texture five wall patches: $200 (45 minutes of labor and $40 of materials).
  • Repair a 4x8 section of wall: $225 (labor $150 and materials $75).
  • Replace drywall in an entire bedroom: $1,500 (price varies depending on the number of windows, whether there’s metal trim, etc.).
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
