I got a new router and it's supposed to last a bit of time when the power goes out. I couldn't do it so I went to Thumbtack and chose A & G Internet Service and I'm glad I did. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Service calls have a two-hour minimum at $175/hour, so a standard visit is $350. Larger jobs are quoted per project. Ongoing managed IT is $150 per seat per month. You will always have a price before any work starts.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First I ask a few questions to understand what is actually happening: whether the network is down completely or only parts of it, what equipment is already in place, and how the space is laid out. From there we schedule a call or an onsite visit to assess the setup. You get a clear recommendation and a price before any work starts, whether that is a one-time fix or ongoing support.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
A.S. in Computer Science from Monterey Peninsula College, top 10% of my class and named Student of the Year, plus continuing education in cybersecurity. I also completed professional coursework in UNIX and Microsoft Server systems through UC Extension in Los Angeles. Most of what I use day to day came from 25+ years of enterprise work: Windows and Linux servers, Active Directory, VMware, Cisco firewalls, VPNs, and fiber-optic network design for media studios, gaming companies, and data centers.
