Although I was going to take violin lessons I decided to switch to viola, and Matthew is a wonderful, wonderful viola teacher (as he surely must be for violin too, given his expertise and patience). He is clearly a masterful teacher, as working with adult students presents a whole other range of challenges to an instructor. I've had only two lessons so far and have already made clear progress in the areas I wanted most to improve, and look forward to working with Matthew going forward. My lessons are inspiring with this clearly highly experienced player and performer; they are also fun. Matthew's a warm-hearted and engaging teacher with whom I KNOW I'll continue to make progress.
