I truly love when a client brings a garment that they presumed already fit well but then discover how a few alterations transformed a well fitting garment into a perfectly fitted garment. Arisha changed my whole wedding dress experience from stressful to exciting. She was very helpful and patient with my questions, and her questions proved that she was very knowledgeable and thoughtful about her clients. Arisha was quick, good communicator and clearly highly skilled in her work on alterations to my blouses. She has over 25 yrs experience, is an expert seamstress and reasonably priced. I submitted 3 blouses for alterations over 3 weeks, she completed each within a week. She’s better known for doing more elaborate work creating or altering gowns and costumes. I highly recommend Arisha as a seamstress in Vallejo.

I am very pleased with how Arisha did my alterations. Arisha took in the waist of a dress I had found at a vintage store, and also hemmed in the seat of a pair of baggy pants for me. She did in-home measurements at my apartment in San Francisco, and dropped the clothing off at my workplace -- so convenient! What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I meet with clients or speak by phone to determine their perceived needs. I make recommendations concerning the particular project. I then assist with the fabric and supply sourcing prices and create a timeline for completing of the project.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I initially learned to sew from mom who was an impeccable seamstress working at my father's dry cleaners. I went on to attend College of Alameda where I completed apparel design & merchandising program with an emphasis in suit tailoring. I have continually added to my skill set by working in various workrooms over the years where i could learn and fine tune traditional and modern techniques.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started this work by taking on the client's who didn't want to pay my mother's tailoring prices. Sewing and alterations services were how I financially sustained myself in college.
