I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my lessons with Sonu! Golf was a foreign territory: I felt unsure, didn’t know the language, the currency, the culture, or how to begin. Sonu is a golf native and in so many ways made me feel welcome to the world of golf.
It’s easy to think golf is, well, easy… it is not! More so than the techniques he’s mastered and was able to explain so simply, it’s the love Sonu has for the game that made me appreciate my lessons the most. Golf is a precise and delicate dance. It’s not in the force, it’s all in the breath, and Sonu will tell you, just breathe. He’s clear, patient, kind, fun, and decisive in his guidance. A look at your posture and/or your game, he’ll know where and how to fix it.
Sonu is a great golfer. He respects the game, honors the walk, and it seems like each round is a spiritual journey. For the loud and hilarious New Yorker he is, Sonu is impressively zen, able to harbor and dispense peace- truly a remarquable instructor and I couldn’t recommend him enough, for novices and experienced golfers alike!

I have been taking lessons with Sonu for the past two years, and my game has improved tremendously because of him. He focuses on using my strengths and emphasizes bigger, more natural movements rather than overthinking small details. This approach has helped me generate more power and become much more consistent and accurate overall with my irons and driver.
His chipping lessons have made a huge difference in my game. He taught me how important it is to follow through on my chip shots and to pay attention to where my arms and the club finish. Once I started applying his chipping technique, I became much more confident and very strong around the greens.
Regarding putting, he taught me to use breathing exercises to stay calm, and this has now become a habit for me on the putting green. I learned from him that calming my nerves and staying focused is crucial to making putts. While he definitely helped improve my stroke mechanically, the calmness and focus I developed from working with him have improved my putting tremendously.
As a result of all his work with me, my scores have improved significantly. In addition to being a great teacher, he is also a courteous professional with a nice personality and enjoyable to take lessons with.
