Furniture Refinishing

Sparky did a magnificent job. Together we redesigned an Ethan Allan country french sideboard to match my more contemporary decor. This included a lot of planning about color, stencil detail, hardware etc. I am beyond happy with the piece and how it now reflects my current style. Sparky is a perfectionist and knows how to paint furniture. She sent me pictures during the process so I could modify the design as we went along. I would love to add before and after photos but the last time I tried this the review failed. Ask Sparky to see Mary's sideboard before and after. Good job Sparky

Actually all of the above… Over the top happy about the refinishing job Sparky did for me. I have a dining table, 6 chairs a bench and a dish hutch all handed down from my grandparents and mother so I was nervous sending them off to be refinished. With the 1st call I was very impressed and comfortable talking to Sparky about the vision I had for my pieces. She paid such attention to detail, stayed on schedule also kept me in the loop with her progress and she was right in my budget. I would HIGHLY recommend Sparky; she is so talented, reliable and such a joy to work with. Janet & Wally

I am so grateful I found Sparky when looking to refinish and update my dining set: a project I tried to do myself before realising how in over my head I was. Enter Sparky who assured me the set I had botched could be refinished. I appreciated how responsive and super professional Sparky was from start to finish, delivering by the promised date. She took care in understanding the look I was trying to achieve with refinishing. The outcome was spot-on and stunningly beautiful. A real work of art. Sparky turned a dated and botched dining set into a show-stopping super classy custom masterpiece that elevates my home. Family and friends could not believe it was the same table and are eager to contact Sparky for their own projects. I'm blown away and super grateful. Thank you, Sparky!!!

Sparky was great to work with! She came to our home and worked on our furniture in our backyard. She repaired a chip in a table we bought at Restoration Hardware and executed it perfectly. She also stained our outdoor teak set. Her work is detail oriented and our furniture turned out great. I would trust her to come to my home again for any sort of repairs we may have in the future. Her rates are reasonable and she’s overall someone I’d hire again in a second!

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Some projects I price per job, but other times I quote an hourly rate of $50-$75 per hour depending on the job.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I like to gather as much information as possible first. I don’t want to take on a job I can’t complete with total confidence. I also want the customer to get EXACTLY what they want, though it is my hope to deliver and end result that exceeds the customer’s expectations. My favorite part of the process is seeing the customers face light up when they come to pick it up or have it delivered.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I apprenticed for 2 years - 40 hours a week with a professional who has been finishing and repairing furniture for over 40 years. Towards the end of the first year & through out the second, I worked mostly on my own doing projects from start to finish with occasional supervision or guidance on types of projects I had little experience in. Now I have been consistently doing my own projects from start to finish without any guidance for the last year.
