Alex removed an old lockset that on the one hand seemed to be hanging by a thread yet was held stubbornly in place all the same; replaced it with a new lockset. He also re-situated the door so that it now rests properly between the side jams and replaced small screws with much sturdier ones. He was meticulous in his craftsmanship.
