I highly recommend Ilana. I contacted Ilana just a few weeks before our wedding and asked for some songs which were not regular for weddings. She not only said yes to all of our songs and found us a cellist quickly, but was also responsive to discuss all the details to make sure the performance go well. At the wedding, they arrived early and our guests loved their music! My husband and I feel very grateful for their wonderful presence at our wedding!
I signed up with Mindy for violin lessons and just had my first session. As a complete beginner, her explanations were very useful. I am looking forward to my next sessions.
My 5yrs old daughter has been amazingly improved in violin for 6months! Thumbs up!
Experience is good so far. Only one lesson, but already scheduled a lesson for next week.
There is an emphasis of motion freedom and connection to spirit from the beginning.
I'm an adult starter violist (from age 38). I'm now 5 yrs into it, and I play 10+ concerts a year with a local university orchestra, chamber groups, a quartet, and even fusion bands and occasional paid gigs! Leon is a master teacher who understands the ins and outs of learning process, and he makes adjustments on-the-fly, in order for us to meet my goals. My learning needs are definitely non-traditional. With every lesson, I bring in something I'd like to be able to learn (oftentimes unreasonable). But Leon sees it as a challenge and a puzzle, and somehow finds a way for me to learn the piece. And in the process, my knowledge and skills increase. I've also had the privilege of sitting in on advanced/professional players taking violin lessons from Leon. He seamlessly transitions from topics of artistic expression to elemental techniques to musicology in the same discussion relevant to the lesson topic. In any endeavor, it's not easy coming across a master teacher. You will be in good hands, whether you are an adult starter, a child, a beginner, or an advanced player preparing for auditions, or even a professional player looking for a confidential second set of ears. Leon is also very flexible with appointments. I personally have most of my lessons during weekday day times (as I work weeknights), and some weekends. He's also accommodated emergency lessons and instrument repairs on occasions! Attached photo is of me rehearsing on the stage of the Davies Symphony Hall, and also few other adventures that opened up thanks to learning music!
Alex is a great teacher, he really focuses on technique and puts a lot of effort into his teaching. Since I am a mature student he is also teaching me some music theory which I love. If you want to learn the violin I would strongly recommend him.
Michele is a wonderful teacher! I am taking violin lessons after several years of not playing and she is very encouraging. After years of playing classical music, I am enjoying taking lessons to explore other styles of music, such as folk music. She has an extensive background that allows for this kind of exploration.
Prompt response to schedule, easy payment online. First lesson with cello teacher with Bridget was great - she is good with kids. Still early on, so hoping it continues to go well!
Kathleen makes every aspect of violin enjoyable. She challenged me to be better, and made learning fun and stress free while doing so. There was never a dull lesson!
Julie is so nice and sweet. She is a very good and professional violin teacher. As one of her students, my 8 year old son loves her and her teaching.

My studio is a 5-day-a-week, one-stop shop where both students and/or adults may rent, purchase and/or repair their string instruments as they attend lessons at the same Heaney Violins location. I teach Suzuki method piano, violin, viola, guitar, beginning cello, and recorder beginning from ages 2 1/2 upwards. Voice is also taught and other instruments including ukelele, mandolin, banjo and harmonica. South Indian karnatak violin is also an option. Biannual recitals are held closely to the Mountain View studio location, and monthly group classes are also encouraged along with weekly instruction. Younger Suzuki students must be accompanied by parents who will learn along with their child how to play their instrument of choice. Typically, students enroll a semester at a time, except for summer sessions which are open enrollment periods.
My daughter has been taking piano and violin lessons from Paul. The piano lessons since age 9 for almost 2 years now, and the violin lessons for a few months now to augment the strings music instruction at her school. He was referred by a family in our neighborhood, and he was open to trial lessons before completely signing on. He goes into music appreciation and history along with his teaching. We have also enjoyed a few recitals of his students along the way - there are three of these each year in student homes, and the anticipation of an upcoming recital is good motivation for the student to practice. For one of these recitals, Paul wrote the sheet music for a popular song that my daughter chose, since there wasn't one readily available. So he goes out of his way to customize the teaching. My daughter has progressed well, and enjoys the experience. I definitely recommend Paul.
My daughter learns a lot from Julia. She teaches her different techniques, tips on how to play musically, and more...

I teach violin to all ages, for both beginner and intermediate. I have a B.A in music from UC Berkeley. I have performed with the California Symphony, Fremont Symphony Orchestra, Berkeley Opera Orchestra and Berkeley Symphony, and I was a member of the Vallejo Symphony for 17 years. I have returned recently to the Bay Area from Kentucky where I taught violin at the Music and Arts Center of Cultural Learning.
