Started going for violin lessons (I'm in my 20's with no music background). Had only a couple of classes so far. I really like the pace and her style of teaching. She is professional and very easy to work with.

I highly recommend Ilana. I contacted Ilana just a few weeks before our wedding and asked for some songs which were not regular for weddings. She not only said yes to all of our songs and found us a cellist quickly, but was also responsive to discuss all the details to make sure the performance go well. At the wedding, they arrived early and our guests loved their music! My husband and I feel very grateful for their wonderful presence at our wedding!

My daughter has been taking violin lessons with Ms. Peszko for approximately two years. Under her direction, I’ve seen improvements in my daughter’s techniques and with the build up in her confidence, she is enjoying playing the violin more. I highly recommend Ms. Peszko to any parent looking for an outstanding music teacher.

Jerry Pajel (Mr. J) is a passionate violin teacher. I have been taking violin lessons for one year now, and I must say that I learned so much in my first month of lessons. While teaching, he communicates effectively and makes learning the violin easy!

Have started lessons with Chloe just one month back for my 9 year old. My daughter and I love the energy and enthusiasm she brings to each lesson. Her focus on technique is something I really appreciate. My daughter was learning violin for about 2 yrs before coming to studio violin, and just month I can see that her music is sounding better with Chloe's detailed focus on basics and techniques. My kid is loving it so far so thumbs up and highy recommend her!

I found a violin teacher close to my home! It was easy to sign up, answered a few very good questions about what my interests were and what I was looking for. I got contacted the same day. The teacher is 12 minutes from my house.

My daughter has been taking piano and violin lessons from Paul. The piano lessons since age 9 for almost 2 years now, and the violin lessons for a few months now to augment the strings music instruction at her school. He was referred by a family in our neighborhood, and he was open to trial lessons before completely signing on. He goes into music appreciation and history along with his teaching. We have also enjoyed a few recitals of his students along the way - there are three of these each year in student homes, and the anticipation of an upcoming recital is good motivation for the student to practice. For one of these recitals, Paul wrote the sheet music for a popular song that my daughter chose, since there wasn't one readily available. So he goes out of his way to customize the teaching. My daughter has progressed well, and enjoys the experience. I definitely recommend Paul.

I have worked with Otis for nearly 7 years in a string quartet. I have seen him teach a wide age range and background of students in many contexts. I have observed Otis giving coachings, lessons, and masterclasses and in all of those settings he flourishes. His teaching style is dynamic, adaptive, and creative. He is very responsive to a student’s needs, and his expertise is shared in a compassionate and patient way. When a tactic may not be resonating with the student, Otis will deftly try fresh approaches. His creative thinking and insight is uniquely rich and engaging, and I highly recommend Otis as a teacher for all ages and levels of violin playing.

Alex is a great teacher, he really focuses on technique and puts a lot of effort into his teaching. Since I am a mature student he is also teaching me some music theory which I love. If you want to learn the violin I would strongly recommend him.

Yuri has been a great teacher so far. We have not covered much yet, but I feel like we are going at a good pace. Her vast experience means she can tell me what skills to focus on early on, and which I can practice once those core skills are done. I feel like I'm building a good base from which to expand.

About

We have intervals in our lives and intervals of music. With each step, be patient with yourself. Each person has his/her own gifts yet to be discovered. You may begin with piano and find, with much excitement, you can write songs, or would you love to sing in musicals, opera, or choral groups or sing leads in theatre productions? Perhaps playing the violin in an orchestra will pluck your heart strings? How about guitar, strumming in a band, singing and accompanying for a church choir or just want to play great songs. Whatever the instrument or style (classical, sacred, jazz, musical theatre and popular), let us explore together what your talents can add to your life and those around your world. At Interval, our professional coach has an extensive background in music and drama. A member of the Music Teacher Association of California, National Association of Composers USA, Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA), our intuitive, talented coach is a published songwriter and a recording artist. She will guide you along your new adventure, help unfold your goals, and make your hopes a reality -- one interval at a time. Our music and drama school is a peaceful environment, where you can focus, be listened to, embraced and accepted for wherever you are along your journey. You are welcome to make your next step into "Interval!"

Hi Lucinda. We live in Menlo Park, and my daughter, Devin, has expressed interest for about a year now in trying to learn the violin. She just turned 6 years old one week ago. My goal is to expose her to the violin, to show that it takes some effort to learn, and to just develop a sense of sticking with something when you want to accomplish something (playing an instrument). But also, I want to have her see that learning an instrument can be fun. She is a fun girl with energy - not a serious girl - so if you can orient the lesson to this approach, it may help to inspire Devin even more.
