I have pretty complicated taxes. I'm self employed, with a corporation, with Safwan's knowledge and experience, he was able to save me thousands more than my previous, while keeping me organized just in case I get audited by the IRS. I'm glad he's available year round for all my accounting needs.

He is extremely professional. I wish I could say the same for my first visit, I was late. But he has been on time, punctual and informed me every step of the way. In fact, he is a math guru clearly by his credentials. However, he puts you at ease, asked me on two occasions to call him Edward. His office is in Glendale, has assigned spaces for his clients. He is low key and manages to minimize or reduce your stress. This is of particular importance to me. I had several surgeries last year, a great deal of medical expenses and was being forced by a long term carrier to apply for Social Security, dealing with loss of insurance coverage and Medicare and an employer's records of my Flexible Savings Arrangement. I found him on Thumbtack and was searching for an alternative to H&R (Hated & Rejected) finally for the excessive amounts they charge. My price was as quoted and in my belief Edward Yousefian, CPA,APC. is well worth the money. I believe he has a heart shows compassion and sees his involvement as a new and growing relationship. I give him 6 thumbs up thumbtack.

I started a new personal injury law firm from the ground up a couple years back- which is a very hard thing to do from an accounting standpoint. So I hired Toya as my accountant to help make profit and loss statements. She did just that. She also helped me develop a system where I could work with her remotely. Would recommend her to any small business owner.

Thank you for your help in my IRS audit regarding payroll taxes for my company. You revised my corporate and individual taxes for the last 3 years and ended up with a big outlay of cash for both my personal and corporate tax returns. You saved me from a lot of penalties and interest charges, as well as bringing me through my personal audit of which I got a refund when it was completed. I have known you for 3 years and my biggest regret is not knowing you 10 years sooner. I would have saved a lot of money wasted in taxes over the years.

As a small business owner, I want to focus my time and energy on growing my business and generating more revenue. GoFigure has been a fantastic partner that has grown with us. Instead of focusing on tasks like bookkeeping, paying invoices and reconciling our accounts, Jamie and his team have taken these functions over for me, which has freed up valuable hours for me to focus on growing my business. I’d highly recommend GoFigure to any entrepreneur who needs more hours in the day!

I started my business two years ago and was overwhelmed by how much time and effort it took to stay on top my finances and accounting. I found Oliver on Thumbtack and his help has been invaluable and although he works remotely he's a very important part of our team. I enjoy meeting with him when he comes to our office as he offers a great presence and gives off great energy. I would recommended him to anyone looking for someone to assist with their accounting.

I found out from my bank that the IRS had levied more than $4500 from my bank account for taxes that I was due. I work at a medium sized company with no other source of income and believed that my taxes were being deducted by the employer from the salary. Turned out that they weren’t and I owed the government an additional $10,000 in taxes for the last three years. The IRS also had an order of wage garnishment on my salary which would have created real financial problems for me and my family. The Legacy Tax Resolution was recommended to me by a co-worker who had been through a similar situation before. They collected the complete record of my salary slips and negotiated an installment plan with the IRS. The payments would be made over a period of one year, which was inconvenient but manageable.

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire an accountant?

Accountants’ rates vary based on their education, licenses, experience, and the work for which they are being hired. An accountant may charge an hourly rate when a company or individual needs their services on a short-term basis, such as when performing an audit or requesting assistance setting up a financial database or process. Hourly rates can range as widely as $40 per hour to $300 or more per hour, depending on your geographic location and the accountant. Check out the average hourly rate for accounting services in your region.

Accountants may offer a package rate for weekly, monthly or annual services to reward ongoing customers. Many accountants offer online services where small businesses can access online accounting software and payroll assistance, and the accountant — for a monthly or other recurring fee — provides financial analysis and reporting of their numbers. For basic monthly accounting services, an accountant might charge anywhere from $75 to $500 or more, depending on what was included in a given package, the size of the client’s business, and the complexity of work requested. Nationally, full-time staff accountants earn between $40,000 and $80,000, depending on experience and other factors.

      What is an accountant?

Accountants are financial professionals who have received an accounting degree from a four-year university or college. By trade, accountants prepare, maintain and examine the financial statements of an individual, business or institution. An accountant prepares reports for tax purposes and can also perform audits of public companies. Common tasks include creating budgets, analyzing profits and losses of a company, processing payroll, preparing financial statements for company leadership, and creating and maintaining financial database systems for a company.

Accountants do not automatically have a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation unless they have passed the Uniform CPA Examination and received the proper license. Regardless of whether they are CPA certified or not, accountants can assist businesses and individuals with bookkeeping and financial reporting, while CPAs are more knowledgeable in tax codes as a result of the CPA licensing examination and continuing education requirements. CPAs are also eligible to represent clients before the IRS if audit support is required, while a non-CPA accountant is not. Academic background, years in the field and professional reputation all can affect an accountant’s rates.
