Dixie is an outstanding pet sitter. She takes excellent care of our furkids whether we are on vacation or just need someone to stop by during the day. She administers medication perfectly and we never have to worry that our cat is receiving the medication that he requires. She is trustworthy and loves our animals as if they were a part of her family.

Katahdin (my horse) and I are so happy at Blue Barn ranch with Kathi and her family! He gets three healthy meals a day, clean water, and regular stall cleaning. This past summer, flies were MINIMAL, and horse owners know how pesky they can be! Kathi's husband, John works hard to keep the place spotless! Plenty of riding trails and the view is lovely. Also, the canine area is beautiful. My dogs can stay there anytime!

My husband and I cannot say enough good things about Rachel. We first met her last August when we asked a local pet store (PAWS) whether they knew any pet sitters. We were away from home for 10 days and our cat needed to be fed canned food at least 2X a day - plus he's elderly and needed TLC. When we got home after being away, the cat was in fine shape - clearly Rachel had done a wonderful job keeping him fed and petted. More recently our elderly cat was diagnosed with renal disease and has needed to have subcutaneous fluid therapy. Because of Rachel's background working for veterinarians, she knew how to administer the fluids. We were very skittish about doing it ourselves at home and Rachel has been a real blessing to us, as she comes and administers the fluids. We "help" her as much as we can. (But believe me, she does not need help - she really knows what she is doing.) But besides doing these things, Rachel just has a way with animals. Our cat loves her and it's no wonder. She is so gentle, kind, concerned - she pays close attention to the pet's condition and lets us know if she sees any changes. We cannot imagine anyone better for pet care of any sort.

Jenn was our longtime dog sitter before we moved to the bay area. She's very detail-oriented, prompt, and always checks in with us while we travel. Our dogs are rescues from Mexico and very skiddish, and they both warmed up to Jennifer within seconds of meeting her. If you live in the desert, I highly recommend CV PETS. Jen, we can't wait for you to expand up here, we miss you!!

First morning right on time. Well prepared, nice personality.

Hello, my name is Aleiyah, and I would like to become your dog walker. I have always had a love for dogs and have walked and dog sat them since the age of 10. I have a dog myself, so I know many tricks to the trade in the business of dog walking. I am a very friendly person, and dogs seem to enjoy my company. I am a part-time student and only go to school two days out of the week, and only for an hour and a half. So, I have a very open schedule and am a very reliable person. I hope that I can work with you and your dog soon!

I am a well-seasoned pet sitter and home care specialist for owners needing reliable care of their beloved pets and homes while they are away. I am well experienced in all domestic pet species to even large livestock animals!

I believe that my work stands out more because i'm not like every other person out there i make sure that i get my work done and treat my customers with respect. I don't discriminate on others or others dogs. I believe that everyone deserves a chance to make a difference in our community. starting with the people and animals around us.

I have cleaned houses with my mother as a child. I clean houses and sit pets as side jobs. I have my own transportation and can provide some cleaning products. I can assure that you will love my work!

I'm an animal lover. I've had many types of dogs. I know how to administer medication to dogs. I walk dogs so they can get exercise. I love to play fetch with them as well. I know the proper way to bath them as well.

We work hard to make sure that you and the horse are comfortable and safe during the training. We mainly do fun obstacle courses, trail rides in the mountains behind Nuevo and games. We currently offer lessons for adults and children over six years old.

I help make sure your pets are taken cared of while you're out running errands, and I take them for long walks.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

  • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
  • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
    • 45-minute visit: $28.
    • 60-minute visit: $32.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
    • 12 hours: $100.
    • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
