Chriss has been great! I get daily texts about how my dog did during the walk and he always lets me know if anything was abnormal. I definitely recommend Chriss as a dog walker as he has been nothing but awesome since he started walking my dog.

Kitty is a really sweet, caring stay at home dog boarder. I have a scard dog and she loved the small chihuahuas at her place. I would return.

Holly has been caring for our pets for many years. We travel extensively and found that kenneling our dogs was a traumatic experience for both our pets and ourselves. Taking them out of their normal environment and routine was not an option. We felt lucky to have found Holly, she was able to accommodate our schedules and our pets loved spending time with her. We would recommend Holly and her services to any pet owner. She is caring and generous with her time as well as extremely trustworthy.

Ellen walked my dog five days a week, for two years. She is reliable, kind, and kept me informed on Cody's behavior & health as needed. As I retired, I now only contact her for occasional breaks.

Little Bear Pet Care was amazing! Mary is a true dog lover and knows her stuff and we knew our dogs were in good hands. Our two dogs had a week of dog-park like fun and socializing and she took great care of them. Highly recommend!!

Steph is fantastic! She helps with my pups training, loves her like I do, and always sends me a report on how my pup did that day. She goes above and beyond my expectations!

We hired this company as well as another from Thumbtack (although only 'one' of the companies can be officially hired - Customer Service recommended reviewing them both - however a review can only be left for the company that was hired!) Shirley has been extraordinary in helping us to coordinate walkers, schedules, etc. She came out to visit and arranged to take our dog on a walk herself! We are very impressed with her professionalism and particularly her dedication! We are just starting out, but so far so good!

Excellent and outstanding service. Chelsey's kindness extends beyond the treatment she provides to the customers and is also passed on to the dogs she walks. It's easy to see how passionate she is about dogs simply by the way she treats my dog every time she walks him! My pup fell in love with her during our free consultation and I truly feel like I made the right choice in picking Chels to take care of my dog when I am not able to. Her walk trackers are the greatest too! It makes it easy to know exactly when my dog was walked and if he went potty or not. The only way you can you can go wrong with Chelsey is if you don't pick her for your dog walking needs. Would rate more stars if I could!

She is a kind, caring individual. While caring for my dog while I was out of town, she ensured the well being and comfort of my girl. She is also a fabulous cook as I have her fix a few meals a week for me.

Well, I like hardworking kids who love to do it for the community, not the money. We want to show love to all of our community. That's why I love dog walking. I don't really own a business, but all that stuff I said is true. Life is life. Bye.

I am a Parker based pet sitter/dog walker. I have a passion for animals and for the care of your furry family member while their mom/dad is away. I have over 10 years of pet care experience.

I love dogs (and other animals)! I have had a pet dog for most of my life, ranging from a tiny Miniature Schnauzer to a large Lab/German Shepherd, full-bred dogs and bona fide mutts. I love them all, and they tend to love me, too. I'm capable of walking, feeding, cleaning up after, and even administering medication.

We provide doggie day care and boarding services. This is "where your dog can be a dog!" We offer live webcams, so you can watch your dog 24/7!

I am a 23-year old entrepreneur and would like to walk your dog(s) in my free time! I go to you and walk your dog(s) anywhere you would like me to!

Crawl, Slither, Play, Exotics is a company starting to build itself up. We are about rescuing animals and caring for them to eventually give them to loving homes. We will walk your dog(s) as often as preferred per week. The total cost depends on size of dog. We have owned sugar gliders, ferrets, guinea pigs, rabbits, hedge hogs, rats, mice, dogs, cats, fishes, lizards, snakes, and even a chameleon. We have a diabetic dog and are personally experienced with giving medication. We all have worked at doggie daycares and have gone to training classes to learn about taking care of animals. We are all in college to improve our knowledge of all different types of animals.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a dog walker do?

We all know our dogs love going on long, adventure-filled walks, but jobs and family and commuting can make it difficult to give them the leash time they deserve. You can hire a professional dog walker to make sure your furry friend gets adequate exercise and outdoor time each day. A professional dog walker may be an individual contractor or work for a dedicated dog-walking company. In either case, you want to make sure the pro has the appropriate insurance in case of an emergency. Some people opt to give the dog walker a key to their house; others to have them pick up the dog from the yard. Dog walking can happen as often as multiple times per day, or just a few times a month as needed. Here are some questions to ask when you are interviewing a new dog walker:

  • Will you or someone else be walking my dog?
  • Do you have a backup plan if you can’t make it for a scheduled walk?
  • Will you walk my dog by itself, or do you walk several dogs at once?
  • What are your different walk routes?
  • When will you pick up and drop off?
  • How will we communicate?
  • Do I have to commit to a schedule or are you flexible?
  • What’s your cancellation policy?
  • What’s your response plan if my dog gets injured or becomes sick?
  • How and how often do I pay you?
  • Do you offer package pricing if I buy multiple dog walks up front?

How much do dog walkers charge?

The cost of dog walking depends on several factors including length and frequency of dog walks, the number of dogs on the walk, distance to your house, and any additional services you request. The national average cost range for a dog walk is $10-$20, but that price will vary based on where you live in the country and the regional cost of living and doing business.

The longer the dog walk, the higher your costs will be. Dog walkers offer a range of walk lengths, from 15-minute potty breaks to long hikes of 120 minutes or more. For example, a dog walker may charge $15 for a 15-minute walk and $35 for a 35-minute walk. Requesting that your dog be the only animal on the walk will typically mean a higher cost than if you permit your dog to be walked in a pack of dogs. You may be able to get a discounted rate if you have more than one dog to be walked. For example, a professional dog walker may charge $28 for one dog or $33 for two dogs on a 60-minute walk. If you need additional help — like feeding the dogs or giving them medication — dog walkers may be able to provide this service at an additional fee. Dog walkers may charge higher rates for walking your dogs on holidays.
