Introduction: I hold a BA in Music with an emphasis on Jazz Studies from the Chicago College of Performing Arts. I have the ability to enthusiastically teach any genre and in-depth music theory, providing my students with a strong foundation for lifelong musical exploration. In addition, my four years touring, and my eleven years as a professional musician, composer and producer, bring an additional dimension to my instruction that is greatly beneficial. My flexible curriculum is personalized and tailored to each student, empowering them to achieve their musical aims.
I have a deep passion for finding each student's individual entry point into a love of music, and building upon that to help them make music a lasting part of their life. I also greatly enjoy working with my students to help structure their practice time, so that it is spent productively and efficiently. I feel that practice is something many students are uncertain about or find intimidating, and this is something I address in various ways to help them make progress without feeling overwhelmed. I have been playing music for over twenty years, and have been performing for eleven years. More than anything, I love to share the joy and richness that music has brought to my life with my students.
