- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I typically work on a package model for lessons. This is where the client will buy a package or group of lessons and then utilize those over the coming month or so. The number of lessons and length of lessons also determine what the client saves in regard to discounts I offer. Working from this model also allows me as the teacher to be flexible with scheduling while also allowing customizations to meet what the student needs.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I always do a trial lesson with all prospective students. The lesson is usually 35-45 minutes of instruction and assessment. Then I have a Q&A with the student and/or the parent to cover any questions they have. This is a great way to get to know the student, establish realistic goals, and make recommendations for a customized lesson plan. Most importantly, it’s a great way to assess if the working relationship is a good fit and that we’re on the same page as far as expectations go. I always want my students to feel comfortable and know what to expect.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have both Bachelors and Masters degrees in Music. In addition, I’ve worked for roughly 18 years teaching, performing and directing.
