Quality work but I wish he would have communicated a bit better. There was one day he didn’t show up and I had to text to find out what was going on. There was another day he didn’t come out. I texted and he said he couldn’t get into the lock box, but he didn’t call me when that happened and just left.

Mike was fantastic. He took the time to do a great job, didn't mind teaching me as he went along, and was entertaining as well. He didn't charge extra when he found out he had to install two extra closet doors after he arrived and he fixed my squeaky front door as a bonus. Hire Mike for any of your handy man projects you won't regret it!

My security door wasn't opening right, and even though it was a small job, Dave gave it his all. He showed up when he said he would and brought the door back in two days, which was faster than he promised. He was pleasant and friendly and did a great job, and the price was very reasonable. Thanks, Dave!

Mark worked for me for 4 days, painted unfinished garage, bedroom accent wall, installed 3 ceiling fans with remotes, keypad lock, garage door insulation installation. He does a great job and is prompt. When I called him back for questions about something, his attitude was good. I would use him again.

I got two patio doors and two windows put in by Uprising. I loved the bundled deal I got. The installation process did not go smooth due to weather. During the job there was some unforseen problems with the installation, the price adjustment was fair and reasonable. Once the windows and doors were installed, They cleaned the windows and doors and showed us how to operate and clean the windows and doors. Lifetime warranty I would highly recommend Urising to anyone. Thank You Nice.

The plaster work was good quality and done quickly. The hand sanding generated quite a bit of dust in the house which could have been mitigated by the use of a sheet across a doorway. I would use Jim again.

Ian was great, and got all the work done in a timely fashion. I had a lot of little things and one big job - the quote they gave to do our soffits was comparable to other quotes we had, and they did a very good job on that. I had one door frame in a very difficult location with lots of tricky trim, and they did a perfect job on that one too. I'm very happy and won't hesitate to employ Ian and co again. As other people mentioned, Ian isn't always on time, but he did always update me on when he would be there on the day.

We are very happy with Miriam's work! We were in a tricky situation where we had to move to the other side of the state and trust that Miriam would come in, clean, and then lock up the house without us being there to inspect her work. We just received notice from our prior landlord saying the house looked great. Thank you so much Miriam for your help. We appreciate your honesty and work ethic very much. I would gladly recommend her to anyone!

Excellent, outstanding , well crafted, professional and a job well done. That's our description for the second floor, 21 fts. Patio extension he crafted on our house. It blend perfect with the existent patio. The bottom is also flushed and the columns are just the same style. Ryan was not only an excellent carpenter creating an exact extension of our existent patio, he also installed a barn door in our bathroom, installed a sliding door where a window was located, fixed the kitchen top cabinet and provided accurate guidance and advise at every single important decision we had to make in the process. His effort and dedication facilitated a stressful process. He is not only our carpenter; today is our friend. This wonderful man is extremely respectful, dedicated, positive, methodical on his crafting process. He is proud of his work's result and enjoyed the ride of remodel our house. He is well connected with skilled construction men that also helped in specific tasks at the house. If you are looking for a skilled, fair price, professional and dedicated carpenter or construction company which is licensed, possess insurance and know the legal process to get a construction permit, RW remodelers is the company you should trust.

Outstanding service! They showed up on time, and get the job done really fast. The project was to fix antique door with very old hardware. Leroy fixed the door knob and lock and put in a weather trip too. The price was straight forward and reasonable. Definitely go back to them for the next project.

Gilbert was awesome. He got to our condo at 9:30 and was out the door by 10:15 after unclogging our shower. He was polite and ran the water for at least 10 minutes to make sure our shower was draining properly. He was a great value after looking around at other plumbers, he takes cash or check, and we will definitely use him again should any other problems come up. Thanks Gilbert!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How does a locksmith open a locked door?

Locksmiths use specialized tools and techniques to open your door in the case of lockouts or lost keys. Trained locksmiths can pick your door lock with lock-picking tools such as a rake, a tension wrench, a half diamond or a hook. They may use a technique called bumping, which will work on pin tumbler locks, or as a last resort they may use a drill to remove your existing lock. The national average locksmith price ranges between $70 and $100. A locksmith can also replace your current lock system, re-key your locks if you have lost your keys, repair a broken lock, install a deadlock and more. Locksmiths not only help with front doors, they can help if you are locked out of your car, locked out of your mailbox, locked out of your shed … you name it. There may be an additional charge for emergency after-hours locksmith services. Check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to have a deadbolt lock installed?

Installing a new deadbolt lock can improve your home security, especially if you think your current lock system has been compromised or there are unaccounted-for copies of your house keys in circulation. A professional locksmith can install a new deadbolt for you in a matter of hours. The national average locksmith price ranges from $70 to $100. Locksmith prices for installing deadbolts may be higher based on whether the professional provides the lock or you have it on hand, how many components the locking system includes, and how long the installation takes. The cost to purchase a lock yourself from a big-box store can range from approximately $70 to $225 or more, depending on quality and materials. Higher-security locks often take longer and therefore cost more to install.

How much does it cost to make a new key for a car?

Locksmiths’ prices for making new car keys can vary depending on the make of your car as well as the time of day and location. The national average locksmith price ranges from $70 to $100, but duplicating a key may cost as little as $30, while extraction a key stuck in the ignition, cutting a new key and programming the fob can cost much more.

You might need a new car key if you have lost your key, the key broke in the ignition, the key is bent or damaged, or you just want a duplicate in case of emergency. You can request a duplicate of a key you have on hand, or you can have a new key made or cut if you have lost your original car keys. If you need to replace lost keys, you’ll need to first provide proof that you are the owner of the car along with the vehicle identification number (VIN). If you’re just locked out of your car but don’t need a key made, a locksmith may charge $65 to get you back in. Locksmith car key services are often far more affordable than dealership prices for new keys.

How much does it cost for a car locksmith?

There are several reasons you may need a car locksmith. You may be locked out of your car (either with the keys inside or with no keys at all), you may have lost your car keys and need a new key, or you may want to make a duplicate car key. The national average locksmith price ranges from $70 to $100. Getting locked out of your car can be scary and overwhelming — especially if it’s cold and dark out. Fortunately, professional locksmiths provide round-the-clock assistance to help people in these circumstances.

Car lockouts are one of the main reasons people need a locksmith. Your locksmith’s price can depend on the type of car you have, the time of day (or night) it is, and where you are located. Locksmith pricing may be based on a flat rate, or pricing may be quoted to you after the locksmith determines the circumstances. For example, a flat rate for a car lockout could be $65 for standard vehicles. That price could be higher for after-hours or long-distance service, or service during extreme weather. If you have entirely lost your car keys, a locksmith can make you a new car key, but first they must verify that you are the owner of the car. Locksmiths can even program new car key fobs for you — often at a lower price than a dealership.
