Introduction: As a therapist, I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Training (ACT) which is based in being present in the moment (mindfulness), accepting one's thoughts, feelings and emotions for what they are and not trying to repress or avoid them, and being able to hold these thoughts and emotions in such a way that they do not distract from moving forward toward one's goals. ACT teaches us to "get out of our minds and into our lives". Knowing ACT allows us to become our own observers in the moment rather than being completely caught up in our inner turmoil and chaos. We learn to identify the values we want to live by in each area of our lives, to be true to them and to base our choices and actions from a values-based place. ACT is an evidence-based mindful cognitive behavioral therapy and is a healthy way to live a fulfilling life. I am a certified clinical trauma professional who provides both assessment and treatment. I have trained with many of the most well-known scholars in the field of trauma, such as Daniel Siegel, Stephen Porges, Peter Levine, Pat Ogden, Ruth Lanier and others. Healing trauma, whether incurred in conflict situations, natural disasters, relationships, family systems, the workplace or other environments, is my passion. I lean heavily on both the somatic therapies and on ACT in my work. I would be happy to tell you more about my approach and what you can expect from me as your therapist.
