FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We charge by time, not by number of pets. We have a 30 minute visit, a 45 minute visit and a 1 hour visit. Depending on the type of pet and their normal schedules, visits may be 1-4 times per day or overnight stays. Our 30 minute visits are $20.00, our 45 minute visits are $26.00 and our 1 hour visits are $32.00. Holiday surcharges and discounts may apply.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
A customer will contact me with details about what kind of pets they have and what kind of care they are looking for (visits per day, length of visits, location, any medications or special needs) as well as dates of services. We will then set up a "meet and greet" to meet the pets and owner to see if it is a good fit for our services. We see how the pet does with us, and we walk through feeding instructions, medications, routines and care information. We sit down and show the customer our client packet, including our credentials and discuss logistics (emergency contacts, veterinary release form, keys) and we have them fill out paperwork and collect keys and a deposit for services. Then we are good to go!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Absolutely! My business has been based on the notion that there is always something to learn. I am a Certified Professional Pet Sitter, which means in order to maintain my certification, I go through continuing education courses. I have recently become an instructor for Pet First Aid and CPR courses, and I love teaching people how to be better prepared for emergencies with their pets. I also have training in disaster preparedness for pets, several dog and cat behavior and nutrition courses, and I attend the Pet Sitters International Quest conference annually to increase my knowledge and awareness of all things pet related!
