I am a Fellow of the Trinity College of Music,London, and winner of the Lady Palamkote scholarship and gold medal. I studied with the great pianist Olga Craen, herself a student of the immortal Alfred Cortot. I am a dedicated piano teacher with decades of experience and specialize in teaching adults. As I have the training of a concert pianists I teach all levels from beginners to the most advanced. Adult beginners are welcome Please see the glowing reviews from students below. My teaching philosophy is that every student is unique and I choose music for each student according to their needs and tastes. Before putting a student on a new piece, I play a few appropriate pieces for them and ask them which one they would like to learn. I teach all styles from Baroque and Classical to Romantic and Modern and even semi-classical music and popular songs. I provide my students with music and study materials Free of Cost in a three ring binder. My fee is affordable and reasonable. I am available for piano lessons all seven days of the week between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. and am flexible about scheduling. I have a passion for the piano and love bringing it into the lives of adults.

I am the typical middle aged adult that took lessons for 3 or 4 years as a child because Mom made me, but convinced her to let me focus on sports and was allowed to quit. Over the last 30 years I would sit down at my piano and try to add to my repertoire, usually ending in frustration. I finally made the commitment to restart my training and found Dr. Heger on Thumbtack. After only a couple of lessons I realized that I was learning theory and skills beyond what I was exposed to as a kid. She quickly zeroed in on my current skill level, as we went through several pieces, sensing my anxiety and finding where to focus my learning. As an adult, I appreciate her creative approach to weave theory, stories and guidance into each lesson. As a busy professional, her schedule is flexible enough to allow me to attend the lesson in her home during lunch. In comparison with other teachers; I believe that her rate, schedule, supplying sheet music and expertise have made her a great choice and removed all obstacles/excuses for me to finally develop the skills to enjoy playing the piano for the rest of my life. I can't believe how much more I am enjoying the piano and appreciating the time I take for myself to sit and practice each day.

Dr. Heger is exactly the kind of piano teacher that I was hoping to find. Her wealth and depth of knowledge, talent, and friendly disposition make learning piano a great joy. I feel that she teaches to me as an individual person tailoring each lesson to my musical interests. During my lessons she always shares her great knowledge of classical composers, history, and music theory. She is truly a musical artist of the highest caliber!

Not complicated. Just a sliding scale for economically challenged but dedicated students.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I introduce myself to a new student by playing the piano for them - Scarlatti, Chopin , Mozart , Beethoven... to show them the infinite variety of music that can be played on the piano, and the magic of the piano ;-)
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Of course. I also continue to give private concerts and also lay for my students at their lessons. As Emerson said: "No one is fit to teach unless they learn something new every day." I als become a better teacher with experience all the time.
