I was quoted a very reasonable price for my Fall yard clean-up which included a final mow, leaves cleaned up in the yard, and under hedges. Exceptional clean up in three garden areas, the rose bushes and a sage bush were cut back and the entire area racked and ready for the Spring growth.

Stephanie and her husband did an amazing job cleaning up my extremely overgrown and leaf-covered gardens/yard. They also removed two small-medium sized trees for us. The yard clean up was a bit expensive but overall, totally worth it!

I hired Hernadez Enterprises to clean up my yard from Autumn. They were able to schedule for the same day, and did a great job. I had asked for my little garden to be cleaned out and the guys accidentally forgot to do it....but when I called to let them know, they sent someone out the next morning and took care of it right away....

My wife and I had just moved into our first house. The back yard had been severely neglected and ravaged by pets. Heavy foot traffic and poor soil made the task of revamping the space overwhelming. There were also trees I needed removed, garden beds realigned, and the whole lawn re-edged. I was working double overtime and thought to outsource the work to a small business. I stumbled across Garden Gnome and was reassured when I contacted the very personable owner. They had everything revamped much sooner than I could've completed the work myself. Money well spent. My wife and enjoyed the serenity of our new back yard without having to break a sweat! Very pleased my my decision. Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for similar work.

Due to a stroke, was unable to do any gardening this summer. Nancy took care of my flower beds as well as my vegetable garden with little or no supervision. Pruned, weeded, harvested and even managed to keep the bindweed under control. Thanks to Sparrow Grow I do not have to start over next year and my gardens look great.

Dylan and Stephanie are just great people. They are trustworthy, knowledgeable, and experienced with plants. I've known them for a few years now and I have hired them on some of our bigger projects to oversee and implement proper care for the entire plant design and installation. I would recommend them especially for gardening, plant and vegetable consultation, and proper plant care. So many folks out there just slap plants and trees in the ground without really thinking about soil content, light, etc. Stephanie and Dylan, both of whom have worked several years for a reputable plant nursery here in Denver, have extensive knowledge of their craft and are dedicated to doing things correctly. Dorothy and her Company has been working in my garden for two years. My garden is the most beautiful, peaceful place to be. I have a dog that likes to dig in areas in my yard and Dorothy has worked with me to find the perfect spot for different plants so that my garden is dig proof. Her gardeners are polite, skilled and fast. I will continue to use Dorothy's company for years to come.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to have landscaping done?

Professional landscaping can help reinvent your outdoor space, boost your curb appeal and get a major return on investment with. Landscaping can encompass anything from adding new plants, trees and shrubs, to leveling the ground and laying sod for a lawn, to building in hardscaping such as sidewalks, water features or retaining walls. The national average landscaping price is $10,160. Landscaping prices can be far lower (with hourly rates ranging from $50 to $150) if you’re only seeking professional help with softscaping or seeking consultation on landscape design. Softscaping means adding or changing horticultural elements, such as planting a garden or adding a hedge. Hardscaping is where costs can really start to rise. Hardscaping requires labor and heavy equipment to excavate the earth; you may need to pour concrete, or you may need a pro who can transport and place gravel and other inorganic elements. Your total landscaping cost will vary based on the amount of work you want done, how much labor is required, and the cost of the materials you are using. A good rule of thumb for a major landscaping project, according to the American Society of Landscape Architects, is to budget 5 percent to 10 percent of the value of your home.

How much does it cost to landscape your front yard?

Prices for landscaping your front yard can range from a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands of dollars, depending on the scale of your front yard project. Your landscaping price will reflect how much change you implement, how much labor is required, and the cost of materials.

Landscaping is typically made up of softscaping and hardscaping. Softscaping refers to selecting trees, bushes, flowers and plants to achieve a desired aesthetic and to meet goals such as having a drought-tolerant yard. Hardscaping refers to moving earth, installing structures, and putting in decorative stonework, sidewalks or lighting. For softscaping, you may want to hire a landscape designer to consult on your plants and layout, and then do the digging and planting yourself or hire a gardner to handle the heavy lifting. A landscape designer’s hourly rate may range from $50 to $150 or more. If you want a turnkey approach, meaning someone who works with you to create the vision and then executes all the work, landscaping pricing will typically come down to a cost per square foot rather than an hourly rate. It’s a solid investment: Great landscaping can add up to 28 percent value to your home.
