Designed new logo for new business cardsAug 28, 2015
I had struggled with doing my own logo, off and on, for months. I am a computer guy, so I can do it, but it is not my comfort zone. I finally asked Nancy to help. She emailed me several ideas withing 24hours! We bantered a little about some changes and I had my logo within a few days. Very quick and painless! Then I tried to redo my business card on my own and ran into issues with alignment and fonts. I decided to hand that off to Nancy as well. Again, several concepts within 24hours and completed design within 48hours. I am so glad I outsourced to McGrath Creative :-)Sep 29, 2014

- How did you get started doing this type of work?I have always been artistic, even as far back a grade school. I won all the art awards there were to be had in grade and middle and junior high school. I used to make all of the school basketball posters (The only sport we had in a tiny little town called Milton, ND, population 197 on a good day). I even went so far as to make individual drawings of the different players and they were posted on the gymnasium walls.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?Let the designer handle your printing needs. Being in the printing business we, as graphic designers get a wholesale price on printing which is much less than you could get if you tried to do it on your own. Additionally, we know what specifications the printer is looking for, like how much bleed you need, what type of file the printer needs, we know all about paper and what 70 lb. offset means, where as you may not have a clue. The printer likes it better this way and usually so do we as graphic designers.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?I wish they understood that there is a difference between print designers and web designers. Some designers do both, but I prefer print.
