FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I typically charge $25/hour plus supplies. Our initial consultation is free of charge and I will track my sewing time to provide a detailed invoice at the completion of the project. I am quick and efficient in my work and most projects can be finished is approximately 2-4 hours, depending on the scope.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
A short meeting of the minds is essential at the start of the project- the customer describes what they are looking for, we brainstorm ideas, and if they have supplies/a garment to give me it should be brought to the meeting. Together we will produce a list of any additional supplies needed (outside of standard sewing supplies, which I provide) and determine whether I will be sourcing them or if the customer prefers to purchase them themselves. Once the supplies have been received, the project will begin immediately and the completion date communicated. Depending on the project, measurements and/or fitting sessions may also be necessary as the project progresses.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I owned a small sewing shop for several years where I taught a variety of sewing and crochet classes adults specializing mostly on fashion. Over the years I have been commissioned for dozens of projects- from product prototype design to hemming a husband's jeans- I'm well versed in it all.
