Omar and team did a fantastic job on our main floor bathroom remodel. We had them install a new custom shower and pan, floor and wall tile with an 18" decorative border and bullnose. There was a lot of detail work involved with this project and it could not have turned out better. I will be hiring them again for my upcoming projects and would recommend them to others.

We divided the work into tile and carpet. Both teams were phenomenal. We can't say enough good things.

Does Great work. He do hardwood and tile through out. Really worked with us on the prices. Literally does EVERYTHING. Only reason they are getting 4 stars is because they do not haul away trash and when you doing a lot of work it ends to be a mountain of trash and cut up materials. Other than that I would hire again !

I had Radick install glass tile backsplash in my new kitchen. He also replaced Pergo flooring which had been damaged from a water leak. I was told by two other contractors that the flooring had to be completely replaced. This would entail removing and replacing the floor not only in the kitchen but also in the adjoining family room since it was one continuous floor. When Radick looked at the floor, he said " I'm pretty sure I can replace only the damaged part." He did just that and did an excellent job. His work was absolutely beautiful, both the flooring and the backsplash tile job. I have already asked him for an estimate on another project. I feel that his pricing is very fair and he works diligently and quickly. He is definitely my go to contractor for any future work that I need.

What can we say about Terry? In less than 36 hours from the time we started searching out tile companies to complete a custom backsplash for our kitchen, Terry had returned our call, come out for a consultation, met us at a local store to select materials/decide on a design, and completed the job. We were thrilled with the personal attention Terry provided, his work ethic, and his trade skill. We will be happy to contact him again with future needs.

I am not one to write reviews. However I was so happy with how things turn out, I feel it's my duty to do so. I hired Sean and Byron to tile the floors in all the bathrooms of my home. They were on time every single day of the project, respected our home, and treated my wife and I with complete kindness and respect. Best of all the floors turned out amazing!! I will hire these gentlemen for every home improvement project I have from here forward. Totally satisfied and I would recommend to anyone!!! Thank you Sean and Byron!!

Leroy helped us install tile and laminate flooring in our main floor and he also helped re-texture our ceilings that were originally popcorn ceilings. The quality of the work was outstanding and Leroy was able to get in and get the job done quickly and at a fair price. He was accessible and easy to talk to/work with. We would highly recommend Leroy - we are so happy with everything!

So John did a lot of work for us. His craftsmanship is very good. The only thing I wasn't happy with was the actual install of our windows, but his workers did that. One window was damaged going in and when I asked the worker about it, he was defensive and combative. After the windows were installed however, I only worked with John. He did all of the casing around the windows which turned out beautiful. He remodeled our master bath and half bath with marble tile and also did a beautiful job. His tile work is very good. He really pays attention to detail. He cut and installed our baseboard. He installed new plumbing, bathroom cabinets, mirrors, he installed outdoor lighting, he really did a ton of work. I was very happy with all of the work he did. Any problems that may have come up, he addressed immediately. I can't say enough nice things about John.

My job consisted of a hole in my recessed ceiling due to water damage from a leak in my upper AC unit. Another contractor completed the drywall and special texture. Joe was hired to do a faux paint to match the existing wall. Joe called and text immediately after receiving the job from Thumbtack. He was able to accommodate an immediate need because of an event I was having the next day. I have custom faux paint and he worked very hard to match the existing paint. He worked on the paint until my husband and I were satisfied with the job. We plan to hire him for future jobs as needed.

I needed my townhome kitchen completely ripped out and redone to create a better floor plan and make it more usable. I needed two walls ripped out, cabinets installed, a kitchen island built, counters tiled, floor tiled, walls patched and painted, light fixtures updated, appliances installed...the whole 9 yards! Aviv Tile and Remodeling did a fantastic job...I'd recommend them to anyone! Lee (Mr. Aviv) worked with me on all my design choices every step of the way. He made suggestions based on whether I wanted things to "look pretty" or last forever, and managed to make it do both! When I was confused about my kitchen layout options, he drew up a floor plan and put the whole thing in photoshop, so I could see what it would look like before it was built! He was professional, prompt, clean, respectful, and gave me the best customer service I've ever experienced--even when I changed my mind on the design a million times. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

CCS was amazing to work with. They can do all of your home improvement projects. They tiled all of our bathrooms, fixed our door, repaired a water line, and sodded our grass. Pricing was the best extremely reasonable. We enjoyed working with the CCS team and look forward to working with them on future projects. We highly recommend their work.

I hired Brandon to basically pick up where another contractor had left off after that contractor proved to be unreliable, unprofessional and lacking in quality workmanship. After having one (costly) problem after another with contractors, I am so relieved and thankful to have finally found Brandon. He showed up when he said he would, worked until his goals for each day were complete, showed a complete respect for me and for my home the entire time he worked, and left me with a finished product that rivals even my keen attention to detail and bend toward perfectionism. If you've read this review to the end, then I'm guessing you may have also seen the reviewer who left him only one star with no explanation. I saw it, too, but decided to hire Brandon regardless. I really am glad I did, and I hope that you will put more stock in my thoughtful and detailed review than in the review of someone who left a bad review with no words to back it up. Brandon is completely worthy of my five stars, and I only hope he doesn't get so busy with future business that he won't have time to come back in the future when I need him again!

I had a great experience working with Frank on a recent painting project. We had just bought a house and budget was tight, but Frank worked with us on the cost and provided practical advice. Since we weren't able to be at the house to let him in, I simply gave him a key so he could come and go freely during the project period, even when we were not around, which sped up the delivery. This level of trust between a customer and a contractor is important to me. Everything was done to satisfaction and I plan to do many more projects with Frank in coming months.

Shane and ALL his guys are truly the best! They are kind and very thorough, extremely detail oriented but also flexible, accommodating and trustworthy . We had a horrible experience with a contractor that did our job completely wrong and Burke construction and design inc came in and made us feel confident and fixed everything that was wrong and restored our faith in contractors. Contractors often get a bad reputation but Shane and his company are changing that reputation! Take a chance on them, it will be more than worth it!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to get tiling done?

You can install tiling on your floors, walls, counters, kitchen backsplash, outdoor patio and shower — to name a few places. Tile is beautiful, easy to clean, durable, and resilient against kids and pets. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Often, tile installation specialists quote a price per square foot for installation. Costs can increase if you want the pro to supply the tile instead of ordering it yourself. Other factors that can increase cost include specialized installation with a unique design that will require more labor to install.

Prep work will also affect tile installation costs. Demolition of the existing floor, counter or backsplash takes time and energy that will be reflected in the price. Necessary repairs, such as a sub-floor that needs bolstering before tile flooring can be installed, will also increase costs. For tile showers, one example of tile installation cost may be approximately $25 per square foot including all materials and labor. Average tile installation costs for backsplashes may run anywhere from $10 to $40, depending on the materials selected and the amount of labor required. The larger the area where tile is being installed, the lower the price per square foot will likely be. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for wood-look tile installation in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet.

How much does it cost to tile a shower?

The cost of tiling a shower depends on two main factors: the size of the shower and the quality of the tiles. In general, most professional tilers charge an average of $25 per square foot of tiled area and the national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The tiles themselves are the greatest variable; the cost depends on their size, shape, pattern and manufacturer. For example, tile purchased at a volume discount from a big-box store cost far less than tiles made in small batches by an artisan ceramics shop. Prices can range from as little as $1 to $50 or more per square foot of tile. Other factors that will drive up the total tile installation cost are grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps or soap holders, and surface prep materials, especially if drywall needs to be replaced before the tile can be installed. Many tile installers will also remove and haul away any old materials from an existing shower installation.

How much does it cost to tile a bathroom?

Tile installation costs are a key part of your bathroom remodel costs. The tile you select (which can range from under $2 per square foot to $50 per square foot or more), the demolition and repair work required prior to installation, and the size of the job will all affect cost. You can install tile in the shower, on the counters, on the wall or on the floor. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Bathroom tile is easy to clean and durable for daily life. Here are some examples of average bathroom tile installation costs:

  • Tile installation at $25 per square foot of tiled bathroom area.
    • A standard tub and shower combo requires tiles for approximately 60 inches of length. Calculate wall height and add 30 to 36 inches of tub width for the walls at the head and foot of the tub. If the tile walls are 6 feet to 8 feet high, in this example, the tile installation costs would run about $2,000. Price includes materials.
  • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with an 8-foot ceiling: $1,450. Price includes materials.
  • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with a 10-foot ceiling: $1,650. Price includes materials.

How much does it cost to install a ceramic tile floor?

Tile installation costs for ceramic floors depend on the type of tile you select. You can purchase tile that sells for under $2 per square foot or tile that costs $50 per square foot — or more for artisanal and hand-painted tiles. The cost of labor to install a tile floor will also depend on the tile you select. It is far less labor-intensive to install a white 12-inch by 12-inch square tile than a 2-inch by 2-inch hexagonal tile with a distinct pattern. That extra time and energy equates to a higher per-square-foot installation cost. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for labor to install wood-look tile in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet. That same pro may charge $6 or more per square foot for a more intricate pattern, or a smaller space. Some installers may charge a minimum day rate for ceramic tile floor installation, such as $340 minimum per day, to cover business expenses and employee wages. If you’re looking to reduce costs, removing your existing flooring and handling any repairs needed can help eliminate prep work costs. Prep work may be charged per hour and could cost anywhere from $25 to $80 per hour or more, depending on the region and the type of repair work necessary.

How much does it cost to install tiles in a kitchen?

One of the most common kitchen upgrades is installing decorative backsplash tiles in the space between the counters and cabinets. It’s a chance for homeowners to get creative while also protecting the kitchen walls from splashes and stains. Like all tiling projects, kitchen tile project costs depend on the tiles you choose, installation materials such as grout and mortar, and any surface materials, like replacement backer board. The national average for a tiled kitchen backsplash is $490-$750. In general, pricing averages $10-$40 per square foot for installation, not including tile. Some professional tile installers have a minimum day rate for small projects, which averages $350.
