I'm a professional guitarist and educator with over 30 years of stage and studio experience — including opening for James Brown and Parliament-Funkadelic. I've channeled that real-world performance background into a teaching style that's patient, practical, and tailored to each student.
I teach private, one-on-one guitar lessons to students of all ages and skill levels across Denver, CO — from absolute beginners learning their first chords to intermediate players looking to break through a plateau. Lessons are available in person throughout Denver (Highland, LoDo, Capitol Hill, Cherry Creek, Park Hill, Wash Park, and more) or virtually via Zoom.
My approach is simple: I meet you where you are, learn what kind of music excites you, and build a custom lesson plan around your goals. Whether you want to play your favorite songs, learn music theory, improve your improvisation, or prepare for a performance, I'll get you there. I have been working with Duncan for almost a year. Before that I as self-taught for about a year. In the time I was self-taught I had certainly formed a few bad habbits, and had my fair share of musical weaknesses typical I would guess of most older adults learning to play. As soon as I started with Duncan he zero'd in on where I needed to focus in order to get the most improvement. We started by revisiting some basics on timing and rhythmn - then moving on to some music theory. He really changed my playing, and pushed me to be a better guitarist / musician. I still have a long way to go, but he's been the biggest influence in my playing and I owe him a lot of credit for helping to me to improve, and most of all just really enjoy playing. He's the best!
