FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I have a 2-hour minimum. Some jobs have a flat rate while others will be hourly.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to talk on the phone and get a clear picture of the whole job. If there are specific measurements or materials I need to look at, I will often come out and do a bit of reconnaissance. At that point, if the estimate meets expectations, I try to go forward immediately. I would typically have the customer repay me for materials that would be predetermined at the time of estimate. If our estimate exceeds $500, I may request a small deposit to maintain scheduling and replenish materials. This is not typical.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In the Marine corps, I was an avionics technician and aircraft electrician. Later, I went to technical school for motorcycles repair and maintenance. Both of these disciplines have given me a level of precision and troubleshooting skills that most contractors don't have.
