Introduction: I have been teaching piano for 12 years and provide a warm, supportive, and engaging learning environment with honest yet positive feedback to help my students become confident and self-motivated. Every student has a unique set of abilities and way of learning, which is something to be embraced. I believe that music is a form of self-expression, and I strive to help my students develop their own unique style and voice. By encouraging creativity and individuality, I hope to inspire my students to continue exploring and developing their musical abilities long after they leave my studio. Learning to play the piano can be a life-changing experience and whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced player looking to refine your skills, I am here to guide you on your musical journey. What to expect at your first lesson! At the beginning of your first lesson, we will work on creating a customized learning plan depending on your goals and needs. I implement a combination of the Faber method, Alfred method, and compilations of works by talented piano pedagogs such as Keith Snell, Martha Ashleigh, Melody Bober, and many more. I have found that by using a combination of these resources I am able to focus on all eras of music history and style, as well as cover all bases of theory fundamentals.

Our son started his piano lesson journey during the Pandemic with virtual lessons. We have done both virtual and in person lessons since then, & we have been absolutely blown away with how quickly he learned to read music & play piano with teacher Julia instructing him. Teacher Julia is so patient, kind, & she knows how to engage & keep her students interest. We have been impressed with how teacher Julia teaches the foundational skills thoroughly, incorporating theory lessons, & picking music selections that both engage and excite her students. She has found the perfect balance of challenging our son to grow, while allowing him to move at his own pace. We have seen incredible growth throughout his 3 years Julia as his instructor. Even with teacher Julia moving to another state, we have opted to continue doing private virtual lessons because of the incredible relationship she has built with both our son and our family & she has proven to be an incredible teacher who continues to help our son flourish musically.

My daughter has had the privilege of learning piano from Julia, and I must say, she has been absolutely fantastic. Julia's passion for music is infectious. She not only teaches piano better than anyone we have worked with, but also instills a deep love for music in her students. Sophia went from a beginner to playing beautiful melodies with Julia's guidance.

Julia makes playing piano, fun. My daughter’s skills have been improving dramatically since we started working with Julia. She is very sweet and lovable and in some magical way she cultivates love of practice in her students. During our past 3 years of intermediate level learning, she has been very knowledgeable and is able to help my Daughter pick the best pieces which always offer new skills and sound pleasant,

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Lessons start at $175/month for weekly, 30-minute lessons. Discounts can be discussed for families.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

With a lifelong passion for music that was sparked in me at the age of 5 by my grandmother, I have always highly valued the importance of music education and literacy. I began formal lessons at the age of 7 and had the privilege of participating in numerous events such as the CAPMT Piano Celebration and Baroque Festival during my childhood years. Following my early training, I pursued further musical education under the guidance of piano professor Dr. Brandon Bascom at Fresno City College for two years before continuing my piano studies with Andreas Werz at CSU Fresno where I had the privilege of being the recipient of a number of their scholarships for music majors. In 2020, I graduated Magna Cum Laude from CSU Fresno with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education. In addition to my teaching commitments, I have enjoyed collaborating as a pianist for choirs and have served in various leadership positions within the California Association of Professional Music Teachers and the Music Teachers National Association.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I began teaching piano part-time in high school and quickly realized it was something that I was truly passionate about. Over the past 12 years, I have been teaching piano to students of all ages and skill levels, and it has been an incredibly fulfilling experience.
