I have learned a lot about writing from Stephen. His passion for grammar encouraged me without making me feel terrible about my issues with writing. I will keep working with Stephen for as long as I need help.Mar 19, 2020Verified

I reached out to Stephen via Thumbtack to help write my father’s eulogy. I am so happy and grateful that we connected as I was struggling to write my thoughts and express my memories appropriate for honoring my father. Thank you Stephen for crafting an amazing eulogy as I was able to give the proper eulogy my father so deserved!Nov 4, 2019Verified
Stephen with Kismet Writing and Development provides constructive and individual-based writing tools for writers such as myself. He also helps with background research and creates creative writing tools to develop writing skills.Apr 5, 2019
Stephen is a boon to writers of any sort. He got to know me, not only my writing itself but my goals, my hang ups, and my strengths. He has guided me step by step not only fixing the flaws existing in my writing but setting me up to be a stronger writer in the future. He tailors his interactions based on the writers, and includes the typical flaws we writers have. He is punctual to each meeting and even plans for me to be late as I am notorious for being. When I apologized profusely for being late all the time he was warm and jovial as he explained that all writers have a tendency to be like that and he plans for it. That is how he approaches his teaching as well. Specifically tailored to the needs of the writer while keeping us focused on where we want to go. Regardless of your genre, Stephen is what you need to reach your potential and meet your goals. To strengthen your skills without losing what is intrinsic to your style. Seriously, do yourself a favor and hook up with this editor and get your writing to where you actually want to be.Mar 22, 2019
I've worked with Stephen over the last four years. Through his gentle guidance, I have come to truly believe that not only do I actually have something to say but also the intelligence and creativity to write it so captivatingly that people will actually want to read it! He gets to know YOU as well as your story by actively listening. By doing so, his development represents you as the author in your most genuine voice instead of simply imposing his own voice over your idea. He is a master at diplomacy, constantly asking questions to make you think deeper into your story ideas to develop layers much further beyond what you had ever originally imagined. He never takes offense to an author sticking to their guns and not incorporating his guidance but I honestly advise you to listen to everything he has to say for the best writing mentorship possible. Finally, Stephen is fully committed to assisting his authors all the way through self-promotion and publication - independently or traditional. Oh - and did I mention he can actually write too? If I'm going to be destined to wander these treacherous trenches of creative Insanity, I will always want Stephen as my Navigator. Jessica S.Mar 25, 2019
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Discounts are available for students at MSU Denver.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? That depends on the service that they are looking for. In editing: if a client only needs line editing we will begin by discussing their target audience and goals for the piece. Proofreading is as simple as understanding if the client is in a location that prefers the U.K. or American spelling and grammar systems. It is in Ghostwriting and developmental editing in which full meetings are required. These services are in-depth and worth taking the time to hammer a great deal down before beginning.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Bachelors of English, Secondary Education. Publishing industry certificate expected in August 2019.
