Mike Lenz and Genuine Homes built our dream home, taking it from concept to reality. I have a little bit of a construction background, and I wanted to do some of the work on the home myself. It was difficult to find a contractor that was willing to allow the homeowner to contribute in that fashion. From the very beginning, Mike was open and responsive to this. He worked with my wife and I for about a year on the design, and tolerated our constant edits and tweaks. Mike used the latest cutting edge technology allowing him to share the digital plans. This allowed us to review the plans in 3d and really grasp what the house was going to look like. As with most projects, the budget and schedule are incredibly important. Mike developed a budget that was realistic and on target. Even during construction, as we wanted to make adjustments, Mike continually worked with us to keep the budget on track. Once construction started, Mike was focused and kept the project on schedule. All of the contractors were scheduled and managed such that the project never stood still. After construction, Mike has always been very responsive and quick to resolve any issues that arise. The house was exactly as we had hoped for, and we couldnt have been happier with Mike Lenz and Genuine Homes. If we were to build another house, Genuine Homes would be our first choice.

If after reading this review, people have any concerns about contracting with you, please feel free to have them contact us. We would be happy to talk to them, or let them walk through our house in order to experience firsthand the quality of construction which you deliver. It was truly a pleasure to work with you in the construction of our beautiful house. In all aspects the construction is of extremely high quality and craftsmanship, and you were very fair and reasonable in meeting our requirements. We were especially impressed with your ability to adhere to tight cost and schedule targets while responding to the change orders we requested. The fact that halfway through the project you were able to shorten the construction schedule by two weeks in order to meet our required move-in date is a credit to your project management skills. After obtaining the Certificate of Occupancy we were impressed with your responsiveness in closing out our "punch list" of minor changes and fixes. We have walked through many new houses that cost much more than ours, but they did not have the quality of construction and craftmanship which can be easily observed upon entering our house. Again, it has been a pleasure doing business with you. You represent the standard by which other contractors should be judged, and are a credit to the residential construction industry.

Simply impressive!
After finding acreage to build my dream custom home, I heard about Genuine Homes, Mike Lenz, from my neighbor whose house was built by Mike. Liking the craftsmanship and quality of my neighbor's home, I contacted Mike to discuss his services and I was delighted to hear that Mike provided the design and required drawings as well as general building contractor services. Mike took my floor plan idea and designed my home, constantly sharing his progress by having me review the model as it developed. Unlike two other custom home builders I had interviewed prior to meeting Mike, builders who tried to convince and push their plans and ideas, Mike patiently listened to my ideas, needs and wants. From the onset, I realized Mike would design the home I wanted since he listened and asked question after question to make sure he fully understood my vision. Mike explained cost implications and provided alternatives to meet my vision and budget. We reviewed the 3D design model weekly as it developed in front of my eyes so I could make sure the home design turned into the home I wanted. Once the design and engineering was approved, there was no question that I wanted Mike to be my general contractor for the building process. From start to finish, the process completed flawlessly. Mike scheduled all work optimally and considering we started in January and had weather delays, the 1.5 story ranch style home with full walk out basement still completed within 9 months. Mike scheduled all work optimally and I could tell how much all sub-contractors respected Mike's leadership and abilities. Mike oversaw all work by paying close attention to details, requesting the best, make sure all work completed as intended, even lending a hand where needed. I was always informed about status, issues, progress and next project work and phases. I moved into my home in October and after 4 months of occupancy, I still look around in awe, loving how Mike turned my vision into reality. Mike is a true professional, extremely skilled, honest and trust-worthy. If I needed to do it again, Mike would be in charge, again!

Mike Lenz of Genuine Homes in Elizabeth, CO built my beautiful private residence custom home in 2009. Working with Mike was a very positive experience through the building process and I wanted to share this with anyone considering his services.
After my wife and I reviewed over 1500 home floor plans we finally chose a design for our home of which Mike Lenz completely customized using his CAD software program. Mike's design of our new home was exceptional. His recommendation to utilize space that we did not consider ultimately turned the final design into our dream home.
As a General Contractor Mike's selection of his subs was both critical and the quality and the performance of the home construction project. From the initial excavation through the finish work of my home all of his contractors were both professional and timely. Mike's attention to detail was a very positive thing to witness making his contractors follow through with a finished product that had no flaws that even a perfectionist as myself was happy with.
After hearing all of the horror stories regarding the disasters in the residential custom home building market both my wife and I did an exhaustive background check on several contractors and performed personal interviews with 4 General Contractors ultimately selecting Genuine Homes. The quality and moral integrity of Mike Lenz made our home building experience a wonderful experience. If I ever decide to build another custom home I will utilize Genuine Homes again and can recommend Mike Lenz to anyone.

I hired Mike to build a very complex timberframe and ICF home. Mike already had extensive experience building ICF homes but the challenge was to drop a timberframe inside these walls after they were poured and then install a SIP roof and then tie it all in together. It all turned out extremely well. Mike is a problem solver. There were many problems that we had to overcome and we did. Not only was this a wonderful experience, I would probably do it again and hire Mike.
