FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Basic rates for private lessons are $30 for a half hour, $45 for an hour. For anything else outside of this scope, I have a pricing structure that offers great discounts for longer lessons as well as for semi-private and group classes. A great way to save and spend more time with your loved ones is to invite a friend or family member to a lesson for cheap! And receive a *constant* discount of %20 off for any videochat lesson! Contact me for more elaboration and the exact formula I use for pricing. I strive to accommodate.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
With new students, I try to find the niche that they most naturally have, musically speaking. This shows what "bedrock skill" we have to work from, being the ability that proves naturally easy and endlessly fun. By always knowing which technique or practice will keep my spirits up, I've been able to maintain a very consistent momentum in my own personal musical education. And so I try to always find that "bedrock" (or foundational) skill for each of my students in turn; it's the single most important aspect of my teaching style, and the single best way to help keep our muse right by our side.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am constantly looking for new techniques in my own music, and at this point I have a wide collection of internet, book, and other tutorial and lessons (which I'm more than happy to share with students). I've continued to learn since becoming a dean's list graduate, with a Bachelor's in Music, from the Music Industries program at UCD. I try to learn from as many styles as possible, and in my own original music I use elements of classical, slap/percussive, suspended jazz chords, classic rock-style riffs and flamenco right hand technique. Also, I've learned much about mindfulness and have applied such techniques to my teaching style. I believe this practice in particular accounts for the success I've had becoming a skilled instructor. I am a certified Yoga instructor as well, and for many reasons I have come to find that teaching is ingrained in me.
