We hired Matt for a company holiday party and had a blast! He was beyond professional, timely and a truly awesome guy! Only thing that could have been better, was the party lasting longer! Would highly recommend Total Performance Entertainment and will use him at all our events!

Drake was early for the event, and stayed in close contact. He had a neat appearance and was dressed appropriate to the occasion. He was responsive to volume and music choice adjustments at the activity. He really helped with announcements and those silly reunion awards with music support. It made it more fun. He delivers announcements easily and accurately. I would recommend that you do take his advice and provide music groups and bands that you are interested in hearing. Directions for a decade were actually too broad and we adjusted at the event. He was receptive to suggestion. We are close to 60 and he was perfect, although I expect he is best at making an exciting dance occasion. Our group was too busy visiting.I would have no reservations recommending him to friends and family or hiring him again for another class reunion!

Colleen and Nick Smitley are truly and professionally the real deal. When they worked my daughter's Bat Mitzvah party, not only did they live up to everyone else's reviews that I'd read here on Thumbnail, they seamlessly exceeded every one of my family's expectations! Incredible lighting, all the music we requested, including specialty songs, gracious services as DJ and MC, and genuinely friendly and kind. They interacted with my daughter beautifully and listened carefully to what she wanted. The entire planning process was collaborative and fun, and boy, did they deliver! VERY reasonably priced for everything they bring to the experience. Our guests and our family alike went home entirely happy, and I will recommend Vermillion Code to anyone looking for outstanding professionalism and integrity in their entertainment provider.

Chris (MAG music) was a very budget friendly option for a DJ, but he still had a passion for making our wedding fun and memorable! He is very knowledgeable about music options and was absolutely willing to customize his playlist and event plan exactly to our preferences. Upon our first contact through Thumbtack, Chris was willing to meet with my fiancé and I at any time that worked best for us. Chris provided forms that we filled out to help come up with music preferences (Chris is the music expert, not us!). We checked in with Chris a couple of times before the wedding just to confirm and work out details, which I would recommend. He played music that all of our guests liked, but that also fit Ryan and my exact preferences! Additionally, Chris provided a microphone for our officiant and for the live music we had during the ceremony. The feel, fun, and mood of our wedding ceremony and reception were made completely perfect thanks to Chris' impressive DJ skills! We would recommend him to anyone who wants a custom, fun event! Go with Chris, he's a perfect choice!

Fun and energetic! What started out as a bust with NO CHILDREN having shown up an hour into the party, we had her just leave! What else were to do? Literally minutes after her leaving, children began showing up! In a panic, what are we to do NOW? We've cancelled the entertainment! I called Connie to see if she was still in the vicinity and if she's be willing to come back!? She went out of her way to turn back around and put on a show in sure the kids will remember for some time! They were so excited-bouncing and squealing--and that was before sugar! Thank you, Connie, for making our 4 year olds day memorable! She, and the others, loved your furry and feathered friends!! Awesome!

We had Carrie come to our son's 3rd birthday party. She was fantastic with the kids- energetic, patient & welcoming. Everyone had so much fun getting their faces painted and playing with the balloons. She was a lifesaver. The kids had extra entertainment and the adults could hang out. I would highly recommend her and will keep her in mind for future events.

I found Kevin through Thumbtack while planning my aunt's 70th birthday party. I reviewed his youtube video, and his variety of music and personality seemed like a good fit. I kept Kevin a surprise for the party, and he was certainly the hit of the night! He was happy to accommodate my specific music requests, and also played a nice variety to please all age groups. He acted professional, and yet was engaging with the group. Really nice guy! I would highly recommend Kevin for any occasion!!

I’ve listened to David Brooks play music for 35 years where I first heard him play in the local pubs and bars in Lompoc CA. Some traits in David’s music and performance haven’t changed, which include his passion, reliability, leadership abilities, and most of all his love for his audience. His talent through is like a fine whiskey, it only improves with age. He personally has played for me numerous times including my son’s eighteenth birthday party and at my wedding, never to have disappointed and always bringing people on their feet to dance. David Brooks is a hoot!

Michael played two corporate events in late November 2014. He was perfect for both events. We welcomed guests in a design studio and Michael played acoustic guitar. He really read the crowd and responded to their vibe and the vibe of the event. All our guest had a great time and I thank Michael for providing the lovely tunes in a non-traditional music environment!

Princess was the DJ and emcee at our wedding. She did an absolutely phenomenal job! She let us know exactly what was going to be happening next which allowed the reception to run so smoothly. She was so much fun and her energy radiated throughout the whole venue. She was so flexible and even stayed an hour later than our agreed upon time. She played great music and danced with us. My favorite part of the night was when I asked her to help me dance and she spun me around the room. For 5 minutes I felt like I actually knew what I was doing! After our reception we heard lots of feedback from our guests as well. Everyone wanted to know who Princess was and how we found her. Everyone was so impressed with the evening! I highly recommend princess and her entertainment company to anyone who is looking to have a stress free and fun evening. She made our whole night one to remember!

He's always on time. Brings the music home to the age crowd. He knows how to play Disney songs to the occasion of the party, Gospel for the holy rollers, country to the cowboys and girls or sometimes he breaks it down at the request of the grown and sexy folks.

Joe provided entertainment for our grandmother's ninetieth birthday dinner, which included ten adults. Our group had people of different age groups with diverse taste and levels of music appreciation. Joe truly provided something for everyone and was punctual, professional and personable as well. We so enjoyed having Joe play at our event, and we hope to find an excuse to hire him again! Thank you, Joe, for a truly memorable evening.

Chad Wonder presented at my daughter's 8th birthday yesterday. He was fantastic. His show lasted a little over an hour and was entertaining for the children and the adults there! He is great with the children, no matter their questions. My daughter laughed so hard and had the BEST time! There is no doubt that I will be recommending him highly to everyone I meet. I look forward to booking him for future parties!!! Chad Wonder is "wonderful."

Matt & Marti provided my wife and I a one-of-a-kind wedding. They played all of the requested music, and ran the party without a hitch. They even helped the bridal party find hair/makeup services at the last minute! Great people; great business. Highly recommended.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a bounce house?

Bounce houses, inflatable castles, moon bounces, inflatable slides and jumpy castles are all large-scale inflatable houses made for interactive entertainment. Commonly intended for children, bounces houses are made of PVC or other durable materials such as nylon or vinyl that when look like a house or castle when inflated. Rental companies deliver bounce houses to birthday parties, festivals, fairs and other events. The companies have industrial-grade blowers that fill the large structures with air to make them bounceable. A common size for a bounce house might be 15 feet by 15 feet by 13 feet. Bounce houses often have a flat, inflatable bottom pad and inflatable walls so that kids can jump and bounce without being hurt, along with a netting door and windows so that kids can see out and adults can see in. Bounce houses are suitable for both indoor or outdoor events, depending on the venue. For large events, rental companies often have a staff member who stays with the structure to monitor safety and keep it properly inflated. There are also wet/dry bounce houses with slides that you can hook up to a hose on hot summer days. A bounce house can be a fantastic addition to a party with kids, keeping them both entertained and contained.

Are bounce houses safe?

Bounce houses can be safe if operators and parents take proper precautions. Before renting from a company, confirm they are a legitimate company and hold any licenses and insurance required by your state. Ask to see reports of bounce house safety inspections provided by third parties, to make sure the equipment is in good operating condition to prevent injuries. If the rental company does not provide a staff member to oversee the bounce house for the duration of the rental, make sure you are properly trained on how to oversee the equipment. The American Academy of Pediatrics offers these guidelines for parents to help keep their kids safe when using a bounce house:

  • Follow guidelines for safe installation including anchoring. Position away from fences, greenhouses, branches, etc., which would be dangerous should a child fall onto them.
  • Consider limiting use to children 6 years of age and older.
  • Have kids take off footwear, eyeglasses and jewelry before playing.
  • Take sharp objects (pens, keys) that could cause puncture injuries out of their pockets and hands before playing.
  • Don’t let kids of significantly different sizes into the bounce house at the same time. Smaller kids can get hurt by colliding with or falling under an older child.
  • Heed the height and weight regulations of the inflatable.
  • Food, drink, bottles, glasses, etc., should not be taken onto the bounce house.
  • Supervision should be maintained all the time. Supervision means watching constantly, not just being in the area.
  • Do not allow children to push other children off the inflatable. If it is a flatbed, this is especially important to avoid broken arms and legs. If the bounce house is walled, don’t let kids bounce against the walls and crash into one another — this can result in collision injuries.
  • Don’t exceed the maximum number of children at one time in the bounce house.
  • Don’t let kids climb onto the outside walls. Flips and rough play should also not be allowed.

How much does bounce a house cost to rent?

Bounce houses are a fun way to keep kids entertained during birthday parties and other events. The national average cost for renting a bounce house ranges between $160 and $200. Cost will be affected by the size, design and functions of the bounce house you rent as well as the length of the rental. A three-hour rental will likely cost less than an eight-hour rental. Many rental companies offer fun additions like popcorn machines or cotton candy makers, and provide packages with discounts on multiple items. Another item that you may want to rent with your inflatable is a generator to keep the bounce house inflated. Here are some examples of average inflatable rental costs, packages, and common add-ons that many companies provide:

  • Bounce house, 10x10x13-foot: $95.
  • Bounce house, 15x15x13.5-foot: $125.
  • Wet/dry slide, 14-foot: $150.
  • Wet/dry slide, 20-foot: $250.
  • Combo bouncer and slide, 24x10x13-foot: $140.
  • Combo bouncer and wet/dry slide, $175.
  • Folding chairs: $1.50 per chair.
  • 6-foot folding table: $8.
  • Snow cone machine: $45.
  • Popcorn machine: $55.
  • Cotton candy machine: $55.
  • 2300-watt generator: $75.
