I have never tried hypnotherapy. I was hopeing it might work. Ms. Mann was nice, informative, and careing. My issue is rather complex, and I did not resolve it. I may try again, but have not decided yet. I would recommend her to others in the hope they would have good results.

Hypnotherapy for me was more than merely solving a puzzle, but actually feel validated me for asking for help. I asked for help to find a misplaced piece of jewelry . I had been put in the hospital and had several folks that were trying to help with the move. When I was released, I felt frantic for about 4 months, as I could not find the jewelry. I talked to Mind over Body, explained my situation and set up a meeting. quick efficient and professional. While I was still frantically looking through everything, Tammy was also thinking about my need for help. She left notes to connect with , she encouraged me, she even accepted a note from me at midnight when I found my jewelry! She had offered a bit of information that might have offered some insight, but I had not gotten to follow that up. She reassured me that I was correct to ask for help! I certainly won't fret over things for so long. I will call her! Tammy is kind, caring and obviously serious about helping others! I will not hesitate to utilize her should the need arise!

From the moment I heard Anne's voice on the phone, I felt at ease and took comfort in her caring and inspiring words. Her calming energy was palpable, even over the phone. She took the time, after our 1st consultation, to perfectly customize a script for my smoking cessation hypnotherapy session. I'm certainly looking forward to working with Anne again as I explore myself and create a healthier, more satisfying future. My sincerest gratitude and thanks to Anne!

Last year, I was having a terrible time sleeping and it was impacting every aspect of my life. I never felt well and nothing I tried seemed to work. I sought help from Lynda Pulford and found her to be compassionate and easy to talk with. I wasn't sure what to expect from a hypnotherapy session, but it was incredibly relaxing and refreshing. I noticed some immediate changes in my sleep, and over time, it has improved dramatically. Since then, Lynda has helped me prepare for speaking engagements with hypnotherapy sessions that calm my nerves and keep me focused. I will continue to use her services when I need support or help making change in my life. I highly recommend Lynda and her hypnotherapy services.

I had a great experience at Mindzai! I engaged Jason for a 4 session block, primarily for weight loss. I enjoyed our time together and I felt that Jason was very thorough. I could tell he was/is genuinely interested in helping me reach my goals, which is super awesome! The first session was fantastic. Jason had very comprehensive questions, which I appreciated. Initially, we spent a lot of time talking and then he put me under hypnosis. I was pretty excited and, as a first timer, very curious what it would be like. I awoke and felt great. I felt that the session was immediately helpful and transformative. I noticed right away that I was making different choices and they seemed to be happening automatically. I was really excited and, honestly, I could not wait for my second appointment. The second appointment was fantastic, as well, but for different reasons. We talked a lot that session and Jason had some very exciting insights that made a huge impact on me (that are still making a huge impact on me!). However, I couldn't 'get under' for the actual hypnosis part and that was a bummer for me. I felt that the first session was so impressive because he really got a chance to communicate with me while I was under hypnosis. Regardless, the second session was amazing and I walked away with a fresh perspective. The third appointment went great, as well. I know I was able to 'get under' for a portion of time and that made me happy. I don't exactly remember the specifics of that session, but I remember leaving happy lol. I was eagerly anticipating my fourth appointment, since I knew it was the last in the series I had purchased. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to 'get under' for any of the hypnosis part. Although Jason assured me that 'there is no wrong way to do hypnosis,' I was pretty disappointed. I was really looking forward to the hypnosis part so that was a bummer. All in all, I would highly recommend hypnotherapy, and more specifically, Mindzai Hypnotherapy. Jason is great and very easy to talk to. I feel that my sessions with him really helped me and I anticipate booking future appointments with him.

We placed Katie on our group schedule to run group hypnotherapy groups and to provide 1:1 sessions with out clientele. We have a 6 bed detox and rehabilitation center so at times things can become quite chaotic and hectic. Our experience with Katie has been absolutely tremendous. Her clinical interaction with our clientele has been nothing short of professional, concise and effective. She is a multi-edged sword as she has provided hypnotherapy for symptomology related to anxiety, cravings, irritability and sleep disturbances. She has even worked with our clientele to help with smoking cessation programs and creating a healthy balanced lifestyle that is imperative to long term sobriety. I wanted to take a moment to express my appreciation to Bonnie and for her expertise in Hypnotherapy. I had a lot of things going on in my life recently that created so much stress that it affected everything from my sleeping, daily energy even my health. I decided to try something different. I contacted Bonnie to see if she could help. Bonnie helped me so much that I now am able to cope with much of the stress that life throws my way. My sleep has been the biggest improvement… I wanted to thank Bonnie for her help. I am in a much better place because of Bonnie.

I saw Jodi for issues I have during the holiday season. I used to love the season but after some tragic events as a young man I ended up becoming numb, nearly hating the holiday season. It was amazing that after 3 sessions with Jodi I was able to understand the root of the issue, work it out and I had the absolute best holiday season this past year, in fact I can't recall a better one since I was a child. There just aren't enough good things to say about Jodi and her approach to Hypnotherapy, she is fantastic!

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      How does hypnosis work?

Hypnosis is a wellness technique that works by promoting positive behavioral or cognitive changes. During successful hypnosis, the client should be eased into a state of deep relaxation in which the conscious mind takes a back seat and the subconscious mind becomes more active. The client is often able to let go of critical thoughts and become receptive to the therapist’s suggestions. In this state of hypnosis, motivating suggestions can bypass your usual mental resistance and internal defense mechanisms. For example, even if you want to quit overeating cupcakes, you may have some level of resistance that your rational mind can’t overcome. During hypnosis, the positive suggestions made by the hypnotherapist can bypass your usual blocks, helping you to achieve the formerly unachievable: stopping overeating, quitting smoking, mastering public speaking, or losing your fear of heights. The goal of hypnosis is to strengthen and empower the client’s motivation, commitment and focus. Consider working with someone who is not just trained in hypnosis but also is a licensed therapist or psychotherapist who can bring their academic background into your session.

What can hypnosis help you with?

According to many sources including the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) which is part of the United States National Library of Medicine and a branch of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), hypnosis is scientifically proven to help relieve both mental challenges and physical pains. Hypnosis can alleviate stress and reduce pain after surgeries, has been shown to relieve anxiety in children in the emergency room, and can be useful for managing pain associated with everything from arthritis to migraines. Hypnosis is non-invasive and gives you a way to control pain or discomfort that might otherwise seem out of your hands. Hypnosis shouldn’t be used as a substitute for medical care, but may be an excellent complementary tool that is best provided by a trained therapist or licensed medical provider. The University of Maryland Medical Center shares many conditions for which hypnosis can be useful:

      • Irritable bowel syndrome
      • Tension headaches
      • Alopecia areata
      • Asthma
      • Phobias
      • Insomnia
      • Addictions
      • Bedwetting
      • Fibromyalgia
      • Labor and delivery
      • Skin disorders, such as acne, psoriasis and eczema (atopic dermatitis)
      • Stress
      • Tinnitus (ringing in the ears)
      • Cancer-related pain
      • Weight loss
      • Eating disorders
      • Warts
      • Indigestion (dyspepsia)
      • Post-traumatic stress disorder
      • Smoking cessation

How is hypnosis used in therapy?

Hypnosis is a powerful tool to help clients overcome challenging issues such as anxiety, phobias, pain management, hot flashes and more. Hypnosis is also a way to help let go of addictions like smoking, overeating and gambling. In and of itself, hypnosis is not a therapy, but it can be used in conjunction with therapy to empower and encourage the person receiving it to make positive change. Some people are more susceptible to hypnosis and will benefit more from hypnotherapy than others.

According to Dr. Clifford N. Lazarus, speaking for Psychology Today, hypnosis is a “genuine psychological phenomenon that has valid uses in clinical practice … hypnosis is a state of highly focused attention or concentration, often associated with relaxation, and heightened suggestibility. While under hypnosis (i.e., in a hypnotic trance), it seems many people are much more open to helpful suggestions than they usually are.” The suggestions made in a therapeutic setting get deep into a person’s brain, beyond their conscious thinking, leading to behavior change and the ability to overcome challenges that might otherwise seem insurmountable.

What is the effectiveness of hypnosis?

The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services recognizes the healing power of hypnosis and its proven effectiveness for anxiety, pain control, smoking cessation, headaches and more. Hypnosis may be safe and complementary way to augment medical attention you are receiving for a chronic illness or pain, or a way to resolve an addiction or phobia that you are otherwise unable to control. Hypnosis does not work on every person. When scientists began studying hypnosis in earnest, a report published by Stanford University titled “The Stanford Hypnotic Susceptibility Scale” demonstrated that different brains respond to hypnosis in varying degrees, and a very few do not respond at all. Working with a trained psychologist, you’ll soon determine whether you are a good candidate for the healing benefits of hypnotherapy.

During a hypnotherapy session, the therapist will bring you into a state of deep relaxation in which the critical, conscious part of your brain recedes and the subconscious mind becomes alert and focused. The therapist will make suggestions, based on your intended goals, that will take root in your subconscious mind. These suggestions should affect your thinking in a positive way and empower you to make change.
