Paw N Claws began pet sitting for me in 2013. As a single professional, I needed someone to let my dogs out during the day. They were referred to me by my former pet sitter who retired. They are reliable, cost competitive and you can tell they just love animals. When my dog had medical issues, they gave me some pointers and referred me to my vet - whom I love. I highly recommend them.

We were gone for 16 days and needed someone to feed our two cats and change their cat boxes. Ann was great. She called me every day to let me know that she had checked on them and that they were okay. I found her extremely dependable and I would highly recommend her to anyone who needed pet care. Donna

Michelle has been walking & dog sitting our first baby, our dog Jack, for over five years and we couldn't be more happy to have her in our lives. We are so fortunate to have found such a trustworthy, responsible and caring individual to care for our pup as much as we do. And our dog LOVES her! She's fantastic! If you are in need of dog care, I would recommend Michelle in a heartbeat. She also watches over our home while dog sitting which is a great relief to know both our dog and house are safe while we are away on family vacations, etc.

Jackie has watched our dog Bruno several times and she is so great with him! She is always so thoughtful, keeping us updated and sending us pics of him having fun while we are gone. She treats him like her own, and he ADORES her! Look no further, she is just what you looking for in a pet-sitter!

Kitty has cared for our past two dogs (10+ Years). We lost our Boxer Mia in March 2016. Kitty cried with us and shared our pain. We recently adopted Layla, our newest addition. As soon as we adopted Layla, Kitty came all the way from Longmont to visit our new baby girl. It's not about money with Kitty, she actually cares about and loves our pets! We believe in Kitty so much that she is in our will. If we pass away, Kitty will take Layla and love her like her very own. Kitty is like a "dog and cat whisperer". Your pet is in great hands with Kitty!

I highly recommend going with Little Bear Pet Care... My 13 year old furry child stayed 4 days with Little Bear Pet Care while I was out of town.. My Frodo has a lot of health issues and Mary took such wonderful care of him... I picked him up on Monday and I could tell he was taken care of really well. I will definitely use this Pet Care business when I go out of town..

I don't often recommend businesses but felt that I needed to say how happy we are to have found Jeff of Dogs Colorado. His prompt, professional and obvious dog knowledge was impressive. Our dog loves him and he was very careful to listen to our needs and our dog's need. We would recommend him for pet services! I wish I could have him walk our dog daily and while he is very affordable I also want and enjoy walking our dog. Jeff of Dogs Colorado is trustworthy and amazing with dog personalities!

Megan of Black Dog Pet Services is an absolute life saver. She comes to our home 3 times a day and takes wonderful care of our new puppy, always updating us via text message regarding her visits. Megan also helps us out with small household chores. The truth is we couldn't do it without her and trust her implicitly. She is incredibly professional, thorough, accomodating, and responsible. You couldn't ask for a better dog sitter/walker!

Wow! How did we ever find such a spectacular lady?! Actually, our journey to finding Lisa was a little unusual. We knew we would be traveling and really wanted someone to come check on our sweet cat, Newton. I normally work from home so he is used to having someone around all the time. I wasn’t willing to leave for so long without knowing he had a friend to care for him. We asked around a lot, but nobody had a sitter they would actually recommend - yikes! I started looking on google, but all the bigger companies seemed to really only care about dogs. Finally I downloaded Thumbtack, entered my location and my needs and was matched with quite a few well reviewed sitters. When I actually reached out to them though, none of them were willing to come to Boulder. This was confusing to me since I had entered my location but I was SO happy when we got in touch with Lisa. I told her my issue she assured me she lived and worked in Boulder so coming to visit Newton was no problem. She was so accommodating with our busy schedules. After talking with her about history and background (which I recommend because she is such a sweet and funny lady!) I knew she was a perfect match. Then Newton came downstairs and warmed up to her IMMEDIATELY! I have never seen anything like it for a cat who is so easily spooked! Lisa actually volunteered to take care of our mail and plants too - we didn’t have to ask! Right before we left we received a noticed from the community stating that all cars had to be moved for 2 days while the surface streets were repaved! I didn’t hesitate for a second to reach out to Lisa. She said “no problem - just leave the keys and let me know where the car is parked and I would be happy to move it for you.” These might all seem like little things, but we really felt like Lisa was not only our pet sitter coming to feed the cat. We felt like she was taking care of our whole family! We got pictures and updates on Lisa & Newton’s visit daily via email. She took the time to get to know him and went out on the patio with him (he is not allowed out unsupervised). Lisa even sent us a sweet “welcome home” text when she knew we would be back in the country and left a lovely note on our kitchen table for us. I can’t tell you how fortunate we are to have found Lisa. I am not usually able to let go when someone says “don’t worry”, but with Lisa I really felt like I had nothing to worry about. We feel very lucky to have someone that feels like a family friend in Boulder.

Paws United is the best pet sitting service I have used. They are all very friendly and very reliable. I never worry about my dogs being taken care of. If they say they are going to be there, they are going to be there and do the best work possible. There are many great pet sitters out there but this is the one that is best for us.

I couldn't be happier that I found Brian Hibbard and Altitude Pet. He is absolutely FANTASTIC and my two golden retrievers love him. He goes above and beyond and I feel so good about my decision to hire him and entrust my pups to him. I was so impressed, when he came over to meet the boys, we spent an hour going over a comprehensive questionnaire so that he knows all he needs to about my pups. He's a wonderful guy and runs an awesome business. 5 STAR.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a dog walker do?

We all know our dogs love going on long, adventure-filled walks, but jobs and family and commuting can make it difficult to give them the leash time they deserve. You can hire a professional dog walker to make sure your furry friend gets adequate exercise and outdoor time each day. A professional dog walker may be an individual contractor or work for a dedicated dog-walking company. In either case, you want to make sure the pro has the appropriate insurance in case of an emergency. Some people opt to give the dog walker a key to their house; others to have them pick up the dog from the yard. Dog walking can happen as often as multiple times per day, or just a few times a month as needed. Here are some questions to ask when you are interviewing a new dog walker:

    • Will you or someone else be walking my dog?
    • Do you have a backup plan if you can’t make it for a scheduled walk?
    • Will you walk my dog by itself, or do you walk several dogs at once?
    • What are your different walk routes?
    • When will you pick up and drop off?
    • How will we communicate?
    • Do I have to commit to a schedule or are you flexible?
    • What’s your cancellation policy?
    • What’s your response plan if my dog gets injured or becomes sick?
    • How and how often do I pay you?
    • Do you offer package pricing if I buy multiple dog walks up front?

How much do dog walkers charge?

The cost of dog walking depends on several factors including length and frequency of dog walks, the number of dogs on the walk, distance to your house, and any additional services you request. The national average cost range for a dog walk is $10-$20, but that price will vary based on where you live in the country and the regional cost of living and doing business.

The longer the dog walk, the higher your costs will be. Dog walkers offer a range of walk lengths, from 15-minute potty breaks to long hikes of 120 minutes or more. For example, a dog walker may charge $15 for a 15-minute walk and $35 for a 35-minute walk. Requesting that your dog be the only animal on the walk will typically mean a higher cost than if you permit your dog to be walked in a pack of dogs. You may be able to get a discounted rate if you have more than one dog to be walked. For example, a professional dog walker may charge $28 for one dog or $33 for two dogs on a 60-minute walk. If you need additional help — like feeding the dogs or giving them medication — dog walkers may be able to provide this service at an additional fee. Dog walkers may charge higher rates for walking your dogs on holidays.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

    • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
    • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
      • 45-minute visit: $28.
      • 60-minute visit: $32.
    • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
    • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
      • 12 hours: $100.
      • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
