When we started looking for a graphic design artist. Vance was the first person to contact me and as soon as I finished speaking with him I knew he would be the person to do business with.Vance was professional and provided everything and more than what we agreed on.We needed a wedding magazine done in one week and Vance assured us he could do the job. We met and discussed the job and like he promised the next day we had previews to look at and make any changes we wanted. Vance never hesitated to change or accommodate any request we had. He was truly easy to do business with.Vance checked in with us daily to make sure we were all on the same page. He kept us informed about all that was happening, he even went to the printer to make sure they were shipping our package in time so we could have it, and within six days our magazine was done printed and shipped back to us. Now even though I knew it would be lovely I can't tell you how pleased we are of the finished product.Vance you are the best at what you do we are so pleased with your work and it was truly a pleasure doing business with you. We highly recommend you to a everyone.Great Job Vance Klein of Crosscheck Designs!

I have seen BCS' work and know first hand about their approach to client management and their regard for the end user experience. As a design professional and project manager, I value the type of expertise BCS brings to the construction process. They deliver quality control and know how to streamline production and construction administration, giving me the freedom and assurance I need to focus on exploring good design.

We hired Judy for my son's FIRST birthday party. She was very professional and pleasant to deal with. Her work was better than I had ever expected. Everyone at the party who she did their portraits of commented on how great they all came out. Most of my guests asked for her contact info for future parties. Some of them, including myself, loved our drawings so much, that we are using them as our profile pic on FB; while others have said they were going to use theirs for family Christmas cards this year. All in all it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend her for any party.

I have had the wonderful experience of Peri's artwork in 3 of my homes over the last 15 years. Every time I see her beautiful illustrations on my walls and ceilings I am reminded of the gifted artist she is. I cannot imagine living in a home where her artistic renderings aren't an integral part of the interior design and living environment. She listens to what you want, gives ideas and open to changes if needed to get the ultimate expectation. When visitors come they are immediately drawn to her work accompanied by swoons and aaahs and envy! She embodies what every homeowner would love in their home, a little splash of something lovely, unique without blowing the household budget. Peri offers many choices and never disappoints.

As a freelance Director and Producer in the video, film and TV industry, a marketable website is absolutely critical to the success of my business. Ultimately, my body of work serves as an initial reference point to potential clients. It is truly pivotal that this content be assimilated into a ‘can’t miss’ design that will trigger interest and sales. This is exactly what Brian delivered for my business website. Masterfully, he approached my project with a strong plan of action and executed beyond what I creatively envisioned. He is a must hire.

My experience with Brendan was great. He really listened to my needs and was quick to grasp my style for a computer repair service logo. I sent him a few design concepts that I liked and a week later he sent me a few designs that were all fantastic for my company. I highly recommend Brendan as an affordable logo designer in any industry.

I didn't click Pass so not sure what happened but for purposes of this project, I think I will look locally for someone with knowledge of our service sector. I have limited availability to assist in the development so will rely heavily on the design team to research. Thank you for your responsiveness.

About

Emend Designs desires to help you reform your presences on the World Wide Web. Here are the eight great reasons why you need a website: 1. Websites never sleep Many people surf the web in the evening when most businesses are closed, which is perfectly fine because websites never take a break. A website will allow your business or organization to be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. Having a website is the equivalent of having an employee working around the clock, even on weekends and holidays! 2. Your top competitor has a website. If you are in direct competition with another business that has a website, they have a clear advantage especially if they are adequately marketing their website. A website is a great way to level the playing field. 3. "Just Google it". More than ever before, people are turning away from the traditional means of finding information and looking online, especially by way of mobile devices. Your business should be at their fingertips when they look in the search engines. 4. Websites improve customer confidence and corporate image. With a professional website, you will improve your overall impression to the public, and in turn, your customers will develop a greater sense of confidence in your organization. 5. Small businesses have higher revenue. According to the Small Business Administration, small businesses that have websites are averaging $1.07 million more per year in sales than small businesses not online. That equates to 39% higher revenue. 6. Do you know 247 million people? That is the number of Americans that regularly use the Internet. Worldwide Internet usage is pushing two billion. 7. Websites help establish more customers. According to the Small Business Administration, 50% of Internet sales are from new customers. Having a website significantly improves your customer reach no matter what services or products you offer. 8. Websites are not just local. They are global. Most small businesses are only able to market to their town and the surrounding communities. With a website, you can take your goods and services across America and around the world, if you choose so.

About

There is no job too big or too small, and each receives my full attention. Over the years, I have designed everything: from daily, awards-winning features pages for the Republican-American newspaper to book jackets for the self-publishing writers among us. My responsibilities as head designer at the Knights of Columbus encompassed creating large-scale banners, backdrops, glossy coffee-table books, newspaper advertisements, monthly magazine and newsletter issues, and the company's annual reports. In addition to the tremendously satisfying work I do on a volunteer basis for the New Haven Pride Center, I've recently broadened my design scope to cover all of the branding, logo and Web work for a local personal trainer, an NYC music events producer, and a local hair salon.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Why should you hire a web designer?

Your website is often the first thing your customers see when they’re searching for a business or service on the web. As the face of your organization, your website needs to be attractive and functional, offering the latest features that users now expect. To plan and design a site that both reflects your company’s mission and values and appeals to customers takes a professional web designer. While free online services can help people set up websites, web designers can provide a unique solution made specifically to meet customers’ personal or business needs.

Most web designers offer a wide variety of services to make your website aesthetically pleasing and easy to use. Modern web design must be mobile-friendly and scalable, capable of expanding to include a blog, social media sites, and even video streaming; web designers are experts at integrating various web technologies. They can build the site, add functionality, test it, launch it on a live server, and track and maintain its performance.

In addition to web design and graphic design, some web design providers also offer development and security services, including search engine optimization (SEO), social media marketing and management, logo design, site maintenance, domain registration and hosting, protection against malware, and digital marketing and content services.

How much do web designers charge?

The average cost for hiring a web designer varies greatly depending on the scope of the work, which may range from building a site from scratch to rebranding an existing one, as well as the amount of content and graphics the designer will create. In general, the more complex the project, the more time the design agency will have to spend. Because web designers often work on an hourly basis, the longer the project, the higher the costs; you can count on the web designer spending at minimum 10 hours to create a very basic website with just a handful of pages with few elements. Prices also depend on the designer’s skill set, the process, and the company’s rates. In general, the national average cost for a basic website package starts at $500, but a customized website can cost as much as $2,000 or more. Here are typical average hourly rates, broken out by the complexity of the work:

  • Basic layout and user interface: $15-$40 per hour
  • Content management system design: $20-$50 per hour
  • Custom website design with custom code: $45-$75 per hour

What should you look for in a website designer?

A professional web designer creates the look and feel of your website, collaborating with you to choose colors, creating logos and other branding materials, establishing page layouts, and creating sample pages. An important part of web design is making sure the site is functional, meets your goals, and is easy for users to navigate. When you’re looking to hire a web designer, start by reviewing the person’s portfolio. Look for samples of work that match what you envision for your website, including experience building the types of pages or features you want. Make sure the web designer is familiar with your industry and understands both industry trends and web design trends — an old-fashioned or out-of-touch site will turn customers away rather than intrigue them.

Because web designers tend to work as freelancers on a project basis, they must be excellent communicators, willing to manage their own work, and available on your schedule. Some critical skills, such as working collaboratively and responding enthusiastically to feedback, aren’t core to good web design, but make working with a web designer much easier. Finally, look for a web designer who has cross-functional knowledge, such as understanding marketing and conversion rate optimization in addition to web design.

What makes a good logo design?

A good logo is an easily identifiable, memorable image that represents your brand. A good logo design aligns with your business model and expresses your company’s core values. A good logo design is simple, appealing, and easy for customers and viewers to quickly process. Some of the key components of a great logo are type, color palette and design. The scale, font and arrangement of the text you select will all make a difference in the feel and representation of your brand. A graphic designer will help you home in on the colors that best represent your identity and help you keep the color palette simple. The design of your logo includes the shapes you select and the way the color and type are arranged together. Investing in the services of a professional to create your logo design is likely a smart investment for any size business. Nationally, the average price range for a logo designer ranges from $170 to $250.

What do you look for in a web design company?

The web design company you choose must be able to interpret your company’s mission and identity and turn it into an appealing website that connects with potential customers. They must help you reach your target audience and meet your business goals. A web design agency should have on staff both talented web designers, with fresh ideas and extensive technical and creative skills, and a marketing team that knows how to drive traffic to your site, encourage visitor engagement, and convert visitors into customers. Web designers should be able to build in search optimization and integrate your site with a content management system and e-commerce tools. Look, too, for a website design company that understands responsive design and can optimize your website for mobile devices and desktop browsers. The right web design company understand current design and website trends, has experience building sites in a variety of industries (not just yours), and has an expansive portfolio of live websites. Finally, don’t simply hire the cheapest bidder — in web design, as in all things, you get what you pay for.
