Indrani did a wonderful job with handling my complex project. Not only did she have a quick turn around with a very aggressive timeline, but she was also incredibly thorough. Indrani took the time to explain her methodologies and was flexible to my changing needs during the project. I look forward to working with her again in the future!

I have seen BCS' work and know first hand about their approach to client management and their regard for the end user experience. As a design professional and project manager, I value the type of expertise BCS brings to the construction process. They deliver quality control and know how to streamline production and construction administration, giving me the freedom and assurance I need to focus on exploring good design.

Working with Max and his team has been revolutionary for my company. It may sound cliche but that is the only way to describe it. My company had reached a point where management was almost falling apart as we barely kept up with demand and in turn keeping accurate records. Hiring more staff to meet demand was the only option I thought I had until Max showed me a software that could do everything I needed. It was neat to say the least, I could track my drivers, schedule jobs, even keep track of fuel! My seemingly overwhelming business was now so organized and I am so stress free that we even discovered areas where we can vamp up marketing and get more work! Imagine that! Thanks again Max I cannot say enough of this young man and his team, they actually do care about their business relationship and I have experienced that firsthand.

We have been working with Web Alchemy Labs for a few years in the development and programming of our patented, eCommerce FocusedBuyer.com Website. Their business acumen and professional approach to our cloud-based ‘business process’ software platform, for purchasing through payment, has been outstanding. Equally important, Web Alchemy Labs has been and continues to be extremely trustworthy and a pleasure to work with throughout our project’s timeline.

Mid Hudson Web and Steve were right on with our web site design and software needs. They listened, and captured our vision to the letter with their creativity and innovation. Bottom line is they created a big brand for my company at a fraction of the big design agency cost and I priced this around. I would highly recommend Mid Hudson Web if your looking for brand credibility and high impact!

I give Connecticut Website Development and their team a 5 star rating and thumbs up for a terrific job they did on my web project. Other companies I went to didn't grasp my concept and were unable to do what I thought was a fairly straight forward script code writing part of the development. I realize that developers have different programming languages that they write code in, and I was willing to allow the developers to make that choice on their own. Even at that level, other firms were unable to grasp the concept and make the online software do what is was conceived to do. However, when I went with Kevin Shick at Connecticut Website Development, he understood my company goals along with the concept. I knew he understood because he produced a project summary document that nailed it. Him and his team that were assigned to my project asked the right questions, and posted messages that were all in sync with the concept that I have been trying to explain to other development firms for over a year. Now I am using this product as a main part of my business model. It has increased productivity with the efficient tasks that it performs. I was also able to easily train my staff on the use of this new software platform, and it has become a daily part of our business operations. I cant say enough about how pleased I am with the results that Connecticut Website Development has produced for me.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do I find a good app developer?

A good app developer can help you if your company wants to build a new mobile app for customers but you don’t have an IT or development team on staff. First, decide whether you want an app made for the iPhone or Android phones or both, then start your search by finding an app developer with expertise in your chosen platform. Ask for samples of their work, such as code samples, that can be tested on open source repository sites like GitLab and GitHub. You can also interview firms that specialize in mobile app development for small companies or startups; they should be able to offer examples of different types of apps they’ve built, and are likely to have expertise in a range of technologies and platforms. Before you sign a contract, make sure to ask prospective app developers these questions:

      • What other apps have you developed? Make sure the apps in their portfolio reflect the type of work you want to have done for your company. It’s especially helpful if they understand your industry.
      • What technology and development services do you offer? Ideally, an app developer will conduct a business analysis, develop the app, perform quality testing and make sure the launch is successful.

Will you maintain the app after it’s launched? Releasing an app is only the beginning. You’ll need someone to maintain it too, releasing updates and fixing bugs.

      Who builds apps?

Apps are usually built by software developers who specialize in mobile software. They may be experts in just one mobile software development language or know several, and may have expertise in front-end or back-end web development. No matter what kind of phone or tablet you carry, there are hundreds of apps for it — and new ones seem to be added to the app stores every day. Before you hire an app developer, it’s important to have specific goals for your app and a clear idea of its purpose. When your company is ready to build an app, you can hire a freelance app developer or work with an app development company that can also support the app after it’s launched. It’s important to know whether you’ll need the developer to provide ongoing maintenance and support or if your internal IT team can maintain it after its launch.

How much does it cost to hire an app developer?

Software development is a serious investment for any company, costing thousands of dollars for even basic apps. It’s tough to estimate costs because there are so many variables to each project: user requirements, feature set, complexity, size, etc. Mobile apps can cost from $20,000 to more than $100,000, depending on what you need the app to do. The average national cost of an app developer is $237.50 per hour, but prices vary widely depending on location, type of app, features, and much, much more.

To get a sense of what hiring an app developer might cost, decide first what kind of software you need. In general, app developers charge hourly fees based on the language they’ll use to code the software. Freelancers cost less than large software development firms, typically charging an average of:

      • Basic C development: $75-$150 per hour.
      • Front-end web development: $50-$75 per hour.
      • Back-end web development: $75-$150 per hour.
      • API development: $75-$150 per hour.
      • Desktop app development: $30-$100 per hour.
      • Mobile app development: $30-$150 per hour.

Larger software vendors charge much more, often as much as $300 to $400 per hour.
